I cried because it takes a certain amount of humbleness to put your ego aside. Especially when you know certain people don't deserve it. I feel like in that moment he just wanted to see his family. He didn't care about the race anymore

This has nothing to do with symbolism and racing purity. For corporate public relations purpose, Ford II and others came up with the idea of an all together 1-2-3 photo finish. Carroll Shelby wrote in his monthly column for Octane Magazine many years ago, that his biggest regret in his career was to tell Miles about this corporate decision. Shelby noted he wished he hadn't mentioned it at all to Miles.

It just loove this scene! My fav in the whole movie. I like how Miles looks in his rear mirror and there is absolutely nothing behind him. Than the other two GT40 catching up with him. It just shows what an incredible driver he was and what incredible machine the GT40 is. Just dominating the whole race

Putting ego aside for pleasure of others which u hate is something incredible.. he proven what he wanted to and as he moved trough space and time and it creeped behind him and asked him only question that mattered… yet after long thought he downshifted and whispered “I’m better” ( this didn’t happen I’m just romanticizing story here ) he fought himself and won and for those who knows that hella of a hard thing to do

This is one of my all-time favorite scenes in film - the moment that Ken Miles becomes a truly professional race driver, a team player. The moment he comes to grips with the fact that the goal of the entire project is not that Miles wins LeMans…or McLaren, or Amon. The goal is…Ford wins LeMans. And he gives up his own glory to give Ford the ultimate victory over Ferrari.
