One of the things I like about this version is that it does stay true to the source material such as having the boy not being referred to by name and having him the narrator of the story and also most crucially the ending is very true to the source material

One of the key differences between the book and this film is that the book takes place in England well the film takes place in the United States also in the original novel the grandmother is Norwegian
