How to Use SUMIF Function in Excel

In this Excel Function Explained video series, I will explain, how to use SUM If function in excel. Excel SUM If function is used to add numbers based on criteria in excel. Using SUM If function, you’ll be able to sum up cells containing numbers based on your provided condition. It doesn’t matter if your data range is formatted as text or number. You’ll be able to use SUMIF to SUM the occupied cells that has been filtered based on your condition.
Let’s learn how to use SUM If formula in excel.

The Function looks like this = SUMIF (Range, Criteria, Sum Range)

The SUM If function has Three arguments or parameters.
1. Range: In this parameter, we need to select the cells from which we need to specify the criteria. This is the criteria range.
2. Criteria: This is where you specify the condition based on which SUMIF function will SUM the cells. Here you can specify criteria to SUM cells with a specific text or even use complex calculations to SUM cells based on condition.
3. Sum Range: This is the data range from where sum if will sum numbers.

This is how we use SUMIF in excel. Remember, using SUM If function in excel you actually tell excel formula to SUM cells that has values inside it based on the criteria you specify.
