People think that civil engineers aren't creative. The truth is that there is an art to civil engineering that people don't realize until they practice civil engineering.

All those pictures you've shown are works of art....done by architects. While the first one was designed by Santiago Calatrava, he took first his architecture degree before getting his civil engineering.

think of civil engineering or engineering in general as playing a puzzle as chess, you are constricted to your boundaries., , hence solving math to fit all day. but think of creative field such as architecture as designing a new game. @danielbressler i understand your sentiment that you want to salvage civil engineering to bring it up but really its a stretch to say to bring in creativity debate . civil engineering is a type of deadbeat place for young creative minds like yourself. it is really at lowest of engineering fields. service based profession with easy math knowledge required and barrier to entry is low. you can't really make it in life with this one unless you are in a country where bribery runs the construction together with government's help. if you are in the US, its impossible.

civil engineering is boring, other engineering majors use dynamic materials while civil uses static physics. id say they are creative but other engineer majors having more unique and dynamic problem solving.
