I guess my concern is just that, the gap between whales and F2P player might be huge. It's actually something Unite was good at-- I got pretty far being mostly a F2P.

Thanks for putting a spotlight on ranked mode. The lack of confidence in their battling system is telling.

I just hope they expand the battling to have the option at some point down the line to play the live game rules in pocket app. The client for tcglive mobile is AWFUL 😖

i think this could finally lure me to consider playing TCG, i have pokemon cards from gifts which i haven't played. i hope the simplistic approach of TCG pocket would help.

I think in terms of what could give the game issues is screen size and wifi connectivity. The game in the preview looks ok scaling wise, but that might not be the case in the end. Wifi connection also might be an issue as (atleast for me) phone wifi tends to be less stable compared to when I'm playing something on my computer it also tends to lag more. This could effect gameplay especially for timed matches considering most if not all of the gameplay is pvp.

I’ve seen another comment about this but I’ll echo it. I expect there to be a huge scaling gap between people who are laying down money compared to free to play. It’s luck based so more packs you can afford to buy, the better options you’ll have to play with :(

I hope there are a lot of the ‘immersive cards’

Thing about TCG live is that it’s technically not available to everyone globally.

I was hoping pocket would’ve been the official mobile TCG game. A duel links style is cool too I guess

Pokemon Go started as only catching pokemons and now we have battle tournaments so Pocket will have too. If it will be popular depends on the gameplay and mechanics in game.
Also, trading system. This will be big part of the game and if it will be successful as it could.

The card selection/balance, i know they are creating their own cards for this game and these will be very different from the tcg (biggest thing im seeing is no abilities) meaning balancing is everything and i hope they dont just go "ex pokemon good, 1 prize pokemon bad" i like gimmicky decks in the actual game, like festival lead, where i can ko a tera charizard ex with a lil apple, it's very fun imo

I really hope the Battle system will be good with ranked mode and leaderboard, But I also hope they make us visit other players profile to look up different stats, example: to see the players most favorite card/most rare card and how many other player in the game have this card example: 62% or 4% of playerbase own this card, etc (that will make whales want to buy more) even see win rate, most played decklist it use. So much you can implement. And i hope the trade will be common to common, uncommon to uncommon and rare to rare etc so people not mass accounting or that it cost some type of "energy" you need to play 5 games to be able to make a trade and you can save up to 10 trades (50 battles) etc.

the main thing that will make me not play is if I feel like I have to grind to have a good experience from the game, in Pokémon unite I'm at a point where I can return at any point and just buy a Pokemon that look interesting to me to play because I have a lot of coins saved. If I will play for 2 weeks I will get 10, 000 coins from the returning player event so I almost even.

See now im in the opposite camp here. I think the game needs to focus on collecting first and foremost, and with TCGLive they have no reason to focus on it here, and can put more resources into making the collecting better, such as ways to organize or display cards, or the ability to tradr in bulk for credits or something. If someone wants to play, they can play TCGLive. Why would they make the same app essentially twice?

my hype for this game to be good is unreal

Tbh marvel snap was talked about, but not Yugioh Duel Links. Duel Links is like fast mode yugioh because instead of 6 slots on the field, only 3. Literally pokemon could do the same for their tcg. Instead of 6 prize cards, have it be 3. EX balance would be weird though

I'm not really worried about the gameplay. I know they've showed mostly collecting. But also, they went as far as to overhaul the battle system. I don't think they'd do that if battling was just gonna be a small part of the game.

what happens if there a no paying for packs ?

I think a big bummer would be if better cards are gated behind microtransactions. Marvel Snap’s card pool system is a really clever solution, since it ensures you’re generally only playing people who have access to the same cards as you. Hopefully Pokemon can learn a thing or two from that approach.

Have faith Spragels this might be just Pokemon let's go Pikachu and Eevee, its own game yet a hook for more casual players

I'm gonna wait to see what free to play players get on a daily basis

Looking at the promtional art for the battle, I like it, less rules it seems
