Do insurance companies want to pay for this drug, or for the long term costs of obesity such as diabetes, heart attack, high blood pressure and stroke?

Given more than 1/3 of the nation is obese, and obesity is a risk factor for so many diseases, it should be a no-brainer if HEALTH is their #1 concern. But this is America - money is our healthcare's main concern.

It will probably be 1/10th the cost in Canada & Mexico.

I was one of the testers for this drug. Over 18 months, I've lost 125llbs 370 to 245lbs and probably could have lost 50 more if I was totally committed.
My last week was this week.
I am now on my own and have hopefully learned the skills to healthier eating and exercise that will help me maintain the weight-loss without the medication because I definitely can't afford to continue beyond the study.
It has changed my life!
The only side effect I had was constipation. Long term effects, yet to be seen. Positive - My health is 90% better. I can walk without having to sit every 15 minutes. I feel great. I look great in my clothes.

I still have weight to lose and because I can move, I will continue on my journey. I am grateful. It was a blessing for me.

Rybelsus 7mg, ozempic in pill form, helped me lose weight, 225 to 185, and get my A1c from 12.4 to 6.5 in a year. Ofc I changed my lifestyle, exercised as well. My insurance stopped covering the medication at the end of December 2022. Really sucks how they just decide to not have it on their formulary anymore.

I diabetic and my doctor had to write a new rx for the 5 MG as the 7.5 is what most all prescribing for their weight loss patients making it extremely hard for us type 2 diabetics to get it. I went from a 12.9 a1c to a 7.1 A1C in 3 MO. This month was able to go back to the 7.5. It's amazing.

The food industry needs changes. So many things have additives that aren't supposed to be in food, serve no nutritive purpose, or are known or suspected to have undesirable effects on the body as a whole. Getting the industry standards changed is all about money to these companies. Thats why it's so hard to get these companies to take ingredients out of prepackaged foods. There are "ingredients" forbidden in other countries, but companies don't want to look at why, because then they have to redo products, at the risk of sales. But, at what point does the scale tip and these companies get sued for knowingly leaving harmful ingredients in their products, as more is known about these non-nutritive additives.

I’ll wait for the generic version that’ll be available for a lot less eventually just like any other drug that has been FDA approved…

The drug company will probably charge an arm and a leg for it.

I started taking Mounjaro several months ago for diabetes, and have dropped from a high of 267lbs to 212, and still falling. For me, there have been no side effects. I basically feel full all the time (but not bloated) and eat maybe a third or less of what I used to.

Not overweight but diabetes runs in my family. I have always been tall and slim. I use ozempic to lower my a1c, but I have lost so much weight. Too much. I have eat a lot in a days time to keep my weight up. I eat nutritionally. Was raised to eat my veggies.

I take it for my Type 2. The one side effect I don't like is nausea. I can't eat like I use to. Not worried about weight just my diabetes. My Dr. asked that I keep check on weight so not to lose two pounds a week. But nausea is my biggest issue.

Quick fix to a self control problem. If you can't change for yourself without a will help but just like an addict you will relapse and gain the weight back because of lack of self control discipline. This would be good for extreme weight problems.

Side effects: nausea, vomiting and diarrhea? How about going for walks and lifting weights if you are physically able? Why are people going to therapists and support groups to address why they are overeating? Why aren't healthy foods without additives cheap and accessible for all? This is a bandaid that does not address the real reason most fat people are fat. Being obese is a symptom of other problems. Also, what Americans have the money for this? My rent is $900/month in Atlanta. As a single adult I never have more than a few hundred dollars left over a month as a childless, single person without a car.
