And there was also a very near miss for Tallahassee Nov 21, 1985 when hurricane Kate made landfall at Mexico Beach and just missed Tallahassee to the west. I was living in a small mobile home in Thomasville, GA at the time and on the 360 acres that I and a friend lived on we counted 4 separate areas where small tornados came through the property. It took us 7 hours with chainsaws to get a path cleared to be able to get out with our vehicles.

Florida is a nice place to visit, but would not want to live there. Too hot and fear of hurricanes. I will stay in Northeast, love the change of seasons.

If you are in its path head east towards Jacksonville or south east towards Lakeland. Lakeland sets up the schools with beds for those that need it.
