I’m shocked she worked in an Islamic school but didn’t know her muslim students couldn’t eat lard 😳

I'd question that teachers cooking skills from that point forward. 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

There is actually vegetable lard as well. It’s called Crisco. You can even buy it in butter flavored too. It’s actually vegan. It’s a emulsion of different oils like grape seed, cottonseed and sunflower seeds oils. Everyone thinks it beef or pork but it’s not.

Even as a vegetarian dude it’s important to know this stuff

When my friend brings any food to work she makes sure it’s halal, well okay no pork products, just to avoid these issues. And her students read ingredients like crazy.

It's crazy that teacher didn't say anything when you ate it... Like what the heck? She teaches in Islamic school and still this happened

"Who puts lard in bread?"
Cubans, Americans (mainly in the south), and Cuban-Americans.

One time I gave my neighbour kids rice Krispy squares... I didn't know there was gelatin in marshmallows... I went and apologized to all their parents... Even though I myself am not a Muslim I do try to respect my neighbours faith... I felt so bad...

In my 11th birthday party I invited a few of my close friends. We ordered some mini sausages on squewers to dip in cheese fondue and my friends loved it. A week later one of my friends was talking about my party to me saying how she enjoyed the activities, catering etc.. and then it just clicked. She was Muslim and I totally forgot. Without knowing I essentially fed her pork sausages and I apologised to her several times. She was surprised about this as she just assumed it was beef or chicken. I legitimately thought that she would be angry at me for doing that so when she just said 'it's okay, it was an accident" I felt so relieved.

Kinda surprised the teacher didn't get fired. How does someone forget a Muslim can't eat port when teaching at a islamic school. If she forgot that, she could forget a kids allergy or something like that

The man looking at her like "you better say the script correctly or tonight's beating is going to be extra halal"

Muslims should also be free to eat pork and not be blinded by feudal superstitions. Pork is a delicacy and all Muslims should have the right to enjoy it. Islam is just a philosophy. It's not a law. Islam can be mastered as a knowledge, not as an insurmountable prohibition. Life comes by itself. We should not be imprisoned by ignorant ideas

It was most probably beef lard. Cuban bread is made using it.

I hope they teacher learned and then felt bad. People make mistakes. I'm sure she realized. And you handled is well

Being a Christian, i respect ALL religions, but having to repent after ACCIDENTALLY eating pork seems silly. If you truly, in your heart, did not know, God will know.

I’m Mormon as you guys know, but my family tries to force me to eat pork every freaking Easter and first of all I don’t like pork and secondly I believe it’s a sin to eat pork and I wish they understood that. They are Mormon too, but they frequently ignore the churches guidelines. We aren’t to drink coffee, tea or alcohol except for medical purposes and we are to eat meat sparingly and seek out fruits, veggies and grains and avoid starches and sweets except in moderation. Ironically we can drink all the soda we want. No limits on juice or dairy. I just wish my family would respect my religious preferences. That’s messed up though that the teacher fed you guys pork filled bread. That isn’t right.

It’s not haram if she genuinely didn’t know that it was pork

As a teacher I make sure I know all my student’s allergens, if they’re vegetarian or vegan, or if they eat halal or kosher. I make sure the marshmallows are vegan for Muslim students, etc., even as a nonMuslim. As a vegan and someone who’s brother used to be very allergic to peanuts & tree-nuts, food choices and sensitivities are *very* important to me. I also used to work in many food service jobs and am very accommodating and honest to customers.
I have also had accidents where I confirm something is vegan with a worker at a food place and then it turns out it has dairy or something in it. Which is why sometimes I just go to vegan restaurants if I don’t feel like dealing with mistakes. It’s so annoying! As a worker too I would always make sure to know what foods and drinks had the top 5 allergens and are halal and kosher. Or if I don’t know the answer I would say ‘I can not confirm, ’ I would never just guess.

I did something similar where I made chocolate Guinness cake as a treat in work, forgetting its not halal and as I grew up in a prominently Catholic country while i currently live in a religiously mixed country, it didn't even occur to me to mention it to my colleagues who were felt horrible when I realised even though the alcohol was cooked then on I made sure anything I bring in is halal
