Why we can't change our lip balm formula for you

Sometime people need to accept businesses aren’t able to cater to some of their needs. There are other lip balms that don’t have the ingredients you are allergic to. It’s not the business fault you are allergic to these items.

To be honest, unless your whole brand is not using specific allergens, it’s understandable that you don’t change your recipe. I have an allergy to lavender, both the flower and the oil derived from it, and so I have to be careful ordering most things with scents. I usually completely ignore anything purple, as that colour usually means lavender, and I have to check ingredients on most of my shampoos, conditioners and soaps, as well as air fresheners and any cleaning products. That doesn’t mean I get mad when anyone uses lavender, it’s a popular relaxing scent, and many people like it. I just have to find an alternative, which is okay. I get people that ask, but I don’t get people that get pissed off if the answer is no, because if a company is turning down a sale, there’s a reason for it.

I love your approach to things like this. You might lose money, but to you it's okay because they can spend it on other things that might suit them better. It's so refreshing to see a business practice like this, keep up the good work!!

It’s hard to find trusted products when you have allergies. Sometimes you can ask independent creators to try and rid of a certain scent or something and tell them your allergy but that’s harder to do with main ingredients like coco butter, shea butter, bees wax etc. When the whole formula is messed with then that can ruin that creator’s reputation if they don’t put lots of work into reformulating.

As an allergy sufferer I understand wanting to have a custom recipe, but since their equipment would be used for products that do have that ingredient too, it still wouldn't be safe even if they did make a special batch to accommodate.

As a person with allergies I always tell people "Please make for the masses first instead of me". I will eventually find something that works for me.

As someone with sensiti e skin and SEVERE allergies, I'll never understand people who see a products ingredients, know they're allergic to it, then ask them to change everything they're doing and get mad if they dont. Like dude, if ppl did that everytime someone said they were allergic to something all you'd get is air in a box.. there's 8 BILLION of us, not everyone is supposed to cater to you. If you ha e an allergy FIND A DIFFERENT COMPANY that caters to your allergy or make your own, simple.

I had this issue when doing vegan baking for a charity event. I tried my best to use ingredients that have the lowest cases of reported allergies and gluten-free so as many people as possible can enjoy them. Then I got complaints about it not being ketone, sugar-free, paleo and so on. There is only so much you can do and you can’t cater to everyone.

I'm allergic to honey to the point I break out all over my face in really large hives but im not going to ask someone else to change their brand With honey in it just because It affects me. There are other lip balm brands out there That can work for you.

I have allergies to one of your ingredients and I respect your honesty saying wouldn’t recommend your product to a person with a simple yes or no with a brief explanation. Your honesty keeps people safe because allergies can be deadly. If you were to make something customized, you would have to charge a premium price to account for extra labor, ingredients, and anything necessary for customization.

Finding products that are allergy friendly for me is a challenge and I have resorted to experimenting and making my own. I actually made my own lip balm that was safe. Making your own customized product is a fun and expensive venture.

Don’t change your formula unless you decide to make a change for your entire product. Otherwise it is not realistic or fair to you.

It’s also a good idea to have different formula, ppl like to have varieties when shopping, which entice them to purchase. It’s also good for businesses to have variety of the same products to eliminate excess, or left over product since certain ingredients are used more than the others. It’s also good because it let’s you know which products is most liked by your customers, and hence allow you to create more variety base on their preferences, and reduce/completely eliminate the one no one likes. I have a bakery, and not a cosmetic shop, so these are just what I do. It might be different, but in term of business, I don’t think there should be much variation. And you don’t have to appeal to everyone
