This is extremely effective. I just did it in my car and not only did it put me to sleep, but it also put the family of four in the minivan that is parked up against my car asleep.

I do the 4-7-8 technique as well, ill say im having 4 beers but really end up drinking 7 or 8. That puts me to sleep everytime.

This really does work!! The only issue he left out tho was that if you hold in your breath for too long your forehead will expand. Thats what happened to the dude on the bottom

Super effective, not only for sleep, but also for calming your mind and reducing anxiety/stress. I have now used this every single night for the last week in conjunction with guided meditation, and I’m sleeping better than I have in a very long time.

Speaking from experience, the breathing technique doesn't work alone. Most of us are half dead from exhaustion. First, you lay flat and close your eyes, trying to relax your body while bringing your heart rate down, take deep breaths, and think of pleasant times like maybe fishing with your family back home or whatever you enjoy. Once your mind is relaxed and your body, then falling asleep is no issue, no matter the ground conditions. Deep breathing alone will help decrease your heart rate but with your mind racing falling asleep is difficult

In the military you don’t learn to fall asleep quickly. You fall asleep quickly because you’re physically exhausted. And after a while it just becomes the standard way of falling asleep.

It's a meditation practice. It calms the Vagus Nerve. The outbreath is longer than intake. Counting isn't necessary, I do it the first couple breathes to get the rhythm down, then about 5 or 6 more times, just focusing on the breath and holding. It's the only thing that helps me when I can't sleep or wake up and in the middle of the night, needing to fall back to sleep. 😴
