Getting even the smallest wound in wilderness can lead to infection and if that infection is left untreated death may occur it's really important to know how to treat wounds in wilderness learning more medicinal plants is very useful as well.great video All the best

Love the longer videos, Donny. They're not only entertaining but very educational. As someone who is saving up to buy a plot of land and live simple ( I come from a similar background), learning about things like this is super useful and interesting.

Mother nature provides us with so much useful things. We just need to learn to recognize and use it responsibly.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge for the next generation. 🍻

Another good thing to to for any hand injuries or forearm injury that are bleeding try your best to keep the cut elevated above your heart this puts the blood flow at a gravitational disadvantage which decreases the amount of blood pressure going to the wound making it easier for your cut to clot and minimize blood loss

A long wide sage leaf ( female sage ) also works perfect and acts as a bandage too, tied down with a thin strong blade of green grass. While bushwacking one afternoon I had a bad hangnail that tore. The pain was getting intense so I found a tiny cluster of female sage plants and took 4 leaves off one and moistening one in my mouth I wrapped it with the juice around my finger. Using a thin long green grass blade I managed to tie it tightly onto my wound. Within a couple minutes the pain stopped as well as the bleeding and when i got back to my truck a cpl hrs later I had fogotten I even had a tiny injury ( i wondered why i had a grass blade tied to my finger- a reminder to do something? but couldnt remember what 🙃 )

We used to scratch things into them as kids to tattoo the trees with stuff without hurting it :)

Now it makes me wonder how much "language" could have been lost simply by a tree at a junction of a trails saying "home" or "let's go fishing next full moon" Simple pictographs can tell a lot .

Hi Donny. I live in Europe and have been working on construction/deconstruction a lot.
All my life I had a great experience using Echinacea for any sort of infections, like common colds or even local inflammations, and Calendula for external wounds, especially those pesky finger cuts and nailbed wounds.
I am wondering, have you gotten some experience on spotting or even using those two?
Especially Echinacea, which is not that common in Europe, but in North America, as I've heard, while Calendula is pretty endemic here.

Hello,
I like the cutting of grass. Next time around it will be growing up again. Love aspen trees. I'm to far south. Would a desert willow do the same? Lightly scraping, and not hurting the tree.

I do not know about Aspens bark having a clotting effect on wounds. My mother told me of an old European remedy that stops bleeding in small wounds where people use untreated tobacco. I’ve used it when fishing of rocks and it does work.

Hello, thanks for the great and informative video. I also live in Europe, and I would also like to know what are the same or similar types of plants that grow on both continents that can be consumed as food. Are there any that are similar?I'm just curious.🙂

Yarrow works wonders too, just don't get it mixed up with hemlock.
