Got a similar screw type bar many years ago when I was 12. Had to mount it higher in the door frame when my 6 foot 2 inch dad banged his head on it.
I would just jump up and grab the bar to do pull-ups. One day when I was 14 in my exuberance I flew down the hall, leaped and grabbed the bar. The ensuing swinging motion unscrewed the bar enough that I flew through the air and landed flat on my back with the bar still firmly in my grip! That only happened once, sure learned my lesson.

I just got this bar and it feels pretty sturdy. I will add one inch pieces of sanded wood to the either side of the door frame for added protection and then place the bar. I might also add brackets under each side to keep it from slipping. Hope that helps keep even sturdier.

I dont think i could ever trust a bar like that. I've seen too many fail videos with bars like that.

the advantages and disadvantages you mentioned most of them applied to this type of pull up bar.
there another useful trait of this type of pull up bar, and it is the ability to hange or attach suspension trainers like gymnastic rings or TRX.

If you put 3” x 2” piece of metal in every end you will not have any issue. I has in my house attached to the cement wall and is perfect.

I just received mine. Not yet installed, and the video makes it look even more favorable. Still, I will place two screws under each mount just to be sure. :)

Hey man! Any updates on this pull up bar? I heard that jay flex was working on a new cable system to work with dumbbells. I was thinking of buying this bar to use for the cable system . Does it stick to the frame well ? Have you had any damage to your door frame when using it?

Hi, I got the exact same pull bar recently and so far, impressed with it. But I'm wondering if I can get a pair of gym rings to hang from this bar?

I just got this and when I was trying to extend, one side got extended and another side got shortened. When one side was shortened, the locking red cap was also screwed in to a lock position, so, I can't rotate it to extend or unlock the red cap. So it is completely stuck on one side.

I see the little pin to press to release the side part but I can't press that even. Even that is stuck.

Really appreciate if you can give any advice on what to do to unlock and extend it?

hey man, i’m thinking about buying this but i just wanna confirm dimensions. How wide are the actual supports on the side? When i fully close my door, I have around 2 inches to work with if I were to set this up, is 2 inches enough for the sides to be properly installed?

Should I get this type or the more common type that hangs on the top part of the frame and is supported on the sides.

The one I’m looking at on Amazon has got spirit levels on each end. You didn’t mention these. Is this a different model?

Will this thing crash my door? I used to have a pull up bar that hang onto my door frame and crash it. I dont want to screw anything into my doors also
