I think Savage really is one of the most tragic characters in Star Wars. He never truly wanted to be evil or be a Sith or be submissive to anyone, he was forced into serving Dooku and the Nightsisters, and he so clearly just wants to start a new life with his brother, but while Maul clearly does care for him, he can't openly show it and still puts Savage down into a submissive position. Savage is doing everything just for his brother because he has nothing else, and ultimately it will cost him his life which is just sad

This is actually really deep. Maul was taken from Dathomir as a child, and basically raised by Sidious under the idea of the Rule of Two. Savage, raised properly as a Nightbrother, wants to have a fraternal relationship with Maul, and is probably the only person in Maul’s life with whom he has a healthy relationship, but Maul literally can’t have a relationship that’s not based on dominance because of Sidious.

The thing I love about Savage and Maul is that they don't really want to fight each other. Savage could have held out much longer against Maul, and if Maul had been Dooku he would have punished Savage severely. It's all bluster because they actually care about each other. They just don't want to admit.

I think deep down savage feels alone when he was manipulated into killing his younger brother then finds maul and thinks he may have finally found family to be with, but that's just me

Yes maul may believe at this moment during the show that they must be master and apprentice but deep down we all know damn well maul loves savage as brother.
