I did a poll which Cells at Work! You wanted me to look at next, and so here is CODE BLACK! This week I'll be doing the first episode of Cells at Work season 2, can't wait.

Also not wanting to start this new season with a rant but the copyright with these videos is an issue. There is a chance I may have to modify this so I'd recommend watching this early... last week I had one of my Cells at Work videos from over a year ago get claimed. It is frustrating as I think these are fair use AND only make the series more popular, but they keep getting claimed and if I challenge the claim you get a strike and lose the video (3 strikes and you lose your whole channel). So I just have to let them take the money. I also find this strange as Cells at Work publishers allow you to use this content in educational settings.

Stay safe everyone and see you soon. X

In Japan, companies that treat their workers horribly are called black companies.

Ahh yes, Code Black. AKA "Cells Hard At Work: This isn't a fucking joke, take care of your god damn body."

man: not smoked for 10 years.

Man: starts smoking
Body : "Am i a joke to you?"

“Black company” in japan just means a workplace/company that oppress and exploit their workers, which is the situation these cells are in.

I've waited for, what feels like, years for him to finish the first Season of Cells at Work. Now he's actually ahead of me, what a weird time to be alive.

The "training video" is also drawn in a style more in line with 90s anime, so it's literally like those old videos you find in school or work training which always seem to have been made in the 90s on video tape and are still used today because they're too lazy/underfunded to replace them.

Same for the buildings to be honest. Everything looks a lot "older" in style compared to the regular Cells at Work. 90s style block houses for the cells, a lot less modern and more industrial looking lungs, stomach and veins and so on.

I guess our "body" this time is quite a bit older than the one in the regular series?

Man watching this made me feel even better about giving up smoking and drinking myself. Been smoke free for 5years and alcohol free for 4! I've also finally managed to put on weight too (I was always super slim and always was told I looked too skinny and unhealthy). This anime made me realise just how badly I treated my body in the past and makes me feel even better for giving up my vices and actually eating properly!

We see the blood cells bleed multiple times throughout the anime, meaning there are red blood cells inside of the cells. Which means that inside the cell there are more cells and inside those there are more cells and so on and so forth.

"Give us back our cute platelets!"

Platelets: "You are the one who abuse us, you dimwit!"

FUN FACT: the voice actor for the narrator was previously voicing Overhaul in My Hero Academia, a character who is a severe GERMOPHOBE xD

Code Black is definitely a wake-up call for those who had bad habits.
If you love these guys, You have to take care of yourself!

Another nice detail is how, because this body is experiencing many more problems, the white blood cells carry katanas instead of boot knifes like the previous body, kind of showing how certain cells had to adapt to a constant strain.

"They aren't that kinky in real life". A phrase I never thought I'd hear uttered by a human mouth.

As a former smoker myself this episode hit me hard. I haven't picked a cigarette up in 10 years now and I'm all the better for it. I hope the cells in my own body appreciate the change and are done repairing the damage my bad habits have done to my body.

Cells at Work should definately be shown in schools (and other places of education), not only would it teach children in a fun way but Code Black will also show the lessons of not looking after your body, and likely be noticed more than the more factual information that we get given to us.

Also, if you notice in the first anime, whenever a rbc is carrying oxygen, their jacket is more on the lighter side, while when they are carrying carbon dioxide, their jacket is flipped to a darker shade of red. However in this anime, the colour contrast with the jacket is way less noticeable, which might mean that the person might be having problems breathing? Maybe it might due to smoking too.
