Bible is the Word of GOD and the Word is JESUS! HE is the Healer and healing. Not only reading, but hearing it will have same effect like those who are bedridden with serious illnesses are literally cured listening! I feel, every part of our body absorbs it while reading or hearing it!By reading it consistently, it automatically changes you from being a sinner to a completely reformed person. And magic in reading it is in dicovering the meaning of the promises and applying them for ourselves! The list is endless!

I read my bible a lot, but don't experience many of these effects. Except maybe the "making disciples" part. Would believing in some kind of god help?

Very few Christians read complete scripture in context. They read half dozen `scripture of the Day` verses and think they do good ... they think God is pleased or is it Greed? The use them like they would a Chinese Fortune Cookie that only point out the rewards and ignore the scriptures that tell them their responsibilities.
