Pretty good list, but I'd change it a little
1) Tusk shifter
2) Suspension (Ktech full tunable cartridges and combo shock/spring $1500 but worth it)
3) Tires, chain, final drive sprocket
4) Leave engine stock and running pump gas... It will last forever. Calibrate your throttle. Its a simple procedure of twisting up and back (google it) and should be done frequently. That takes care of 90% of the proclaimed ECU issues
5) Leave stock bars. They actually weigh the same as the CR High Protaper 7/8 and have anti-vibration built into the ends. You only need to buy a different bolt when adding your Acerbis handguards to make them work w/ the stock bars.

I am keeping mine stock as I use it up on the logging roads where I work, although got all the protection(flatland skid plate, ktech springs, cyclops light etc, etc.Prefer the stock exhaust(stealthy)and so do my neighbors, . Been riding an 87 XR600 for the last few years and it is a trench digger so if I wanna get down I ride that, but Ive got a knee replacement in less than two weeks so the CRF electric start is just bet ter for my health.I love the 300L

Mine were ktech front (cartridges and springs), ktech rear shock, tires, Michelin Trackers, Renthal Bars, Acerbis hand guards. Finally, and the only aesthetic mod, a full Yoshi pipe. I'm 105kg, use it for trail riding in Europe. Tires were a must, as was the suspension, the cartridges may have been overkill but she rolls beautifully. I replaced the bars when I bent the originals.

I finally found a 300L and the dealer is holding it for me. I can’t wait to pick it up and start on a few of the upgrades you recommended.

As always, good video!

For me the most transformational and enjoyable upgrade for the CRF 300 L is a proper suspension upgrade front and rear. 2nd important is ergonomics (handlebar, footpegs and/or seat). 3rd is protection (handguards, crash plate). 4th are any investments in a lighter bike (you can easily shed of 6 kg, more will get expensive). 5th (maybe most important) any investment in your rider fitness and skills.

Tires are not really an upgrade, but just a question of purpose and flavor. The IRC stock tires are a very good on- and off-road, no need for instant replacement if both use cases are on your list.

A well thought out list Andrew. I would have bumped the protection up to #1 though. The only things I fitted before going offroad were an AXP bash plate and Barkbusters. A later crunch meant I changed the bars to Renthals (Jimmy Button) and then changed to Michelin Trackers as the IRC's lacked grip in the loose rocky terrain I was riding. I don't see the need for power mods for what I do. Will likely upgrade the suspension down the track as the back is a bit hoppy and I'd like it a bit lower to allow me to dab through the gnarly stuff. And maybe a seat upgrade 'cause I'm getting on a bit in years

Stock tires are not great but man after upgrading suspension the stock tires feels great.

So here I am & when you spoke about "subbing" I went to do it but I was already a sub. That said, I do not recall seeing any new
content but I'm here b/c I'm looking at the 300L Rally >> and it seems that you've done a number of upgrades that I'd want to do
if I owned this bike. Looking thru your vids now

Good video. And I subscribed because you asked. I have a 2022 CRF 300L and have added all the mods you discuss except for the 550 Performance ECU which I ordered and will be here soon. I also added a Yoshimura exhaust system and Ohlin's suspension and front fork springs. I think those two mods are important for performance, albeit expensive. I also have a 2-port USB connector which is hard wired in. The CRF actually comes pre-wired to accept this mod and it is well worth it. I live in Laos and do some serious jungle riding and having Google Maps displayed on your phone helps enormously. Especially since the phone battery isn't draining. Another handy thing I bought is a 10 liter rubber gas bag. The 7 liter tank is a little small. There have been occasions where I have been hard-core looking for a gas bar! Having an extra 10 liters strapped to the bike eliminates a lot of worry. I also upgraded the footpegs, air filter with high-flow cover & snorkel and the handle grips. Lastly, I put on a small clear windscreen which I love when driving in dusty conditions or on the main roads. It's barely noticeable and moves the air and dirt away from my face allowing me to drive on hot days with my faceshield up without worrying about getting dirt or a bug in the eye! And in Laos, it's always hot.

Another good one! Haven’t done the ecu on mine. Probably will sooner than later. Handlebar is another one.

I agree with
Plastic/composite type skid plate. The boxy heavy aluminum are not as stylish. The plastic composite offers more a fitted/more coverage and way lighter. Slid easier over obstacles. I spent a few more dollars on a carbon fiber skid plate and exhaust guard on my yz250 2 stroke. Made by P3 and are beautiful.

849 miles on mine so far. I got a skid plate, Pirelli MT21's and I'm going to get the RC Renthal bars with Zeta handguards. The RC bars are about 1/2" higher, same width and not quite as swept back as stock bars according to my research. Just what I want and the most popular bend. I'm thinking lately the gearing is a little too tall for the type of riding I like to do which is off road and back highways. Never Freeway. Wish I could try out your bike with all the mods!

Thanks for all the great content. Good list, and as boring of a topic as it can be, tires and gearing can make huge differences to how well a bike interacts underneath you in the environment you ride in. I'd also put suspension right up there too as a critical mod for off road riding performance.

Keep it up! Looking at picking up a 300L or the next iteration of the WR myself sometime in the next year.
