I wish program/app offered a lifetime purchase option. I love Shaper3d but can't justify the 20 a month for a hobby. Lifetime free user I'll stay I guess.
I love your Shaper3d videos!

I've never heard of Shapr3D. It's nice to see so much competition in the 3d modeling world.

9:02 Push Pull is only for extruding "normal to" a face. Use a window to quickly select only the mitered face then M for move and you can drag it horizontally to change the length. After activating the move command you can tap the right keyboard arrow to constrain it to move in line with the red axis. Type in the distance moved and it will move that exact length.
12:36 Draw an angled construction line for the new angle, another construction line on top to define the overall height and another for the bottom of the joint. Now rotate the face to match the new angle. Use a window to select only the edges needed to adjust the height to the guide lines you already set for both the top surface and the mortise. This is for pivoting at the top to change the angle. Add the height guideline to the bottom if you're pivoting off the bottom. Super fast and easy.
15:53 SketchUp files drag and drop directly into VCarve Pro with many options for importing. Not free compared to Fusion but a fast and efficient workflow from 3d CAD to 2d CAM.

The iPad/shaper combo is incredible to say the least. It’s seriously unbelievably intuitive. I’ve come from auto desk and sketch up products and prefer shaper. For my hobbyist and woodworking creations.

Thanks for letting us know it was sponsored. Nothing worse that a disguised advertisement. Much appreciated.

You do not use the push/pull tool in sketch-up to lengthen/shorten a plane that is not perpendicular to the x, y, z axes (red, green, blue axes) - highlight the perimeter of the non-perpendicular plane and use the <move> tool to move the highlighted perimeter of said plane - everything attached to the perimeter (surface only) will follow. 1D lines make 2D planes, and stacking 2D planes (at the perimeters) makes 3D (hollow) objects. Hence, Sketch-up likes to build its 3D (hollow) objects by stacking/unstacking 2D plane-perimeters, and because 2D planes must have a perimeter you <move> (stack/unstack) your 2D plane-perimeters by highlighting and moving the 2D perimeters. I am guessing here, but the likely reason Sketch-up uses 2D plane-perimeters to make 3D hollow objects is to minimize files sizes (bytes). A hollow 3D cube comprised of six infinitely thin 2D surfaces uses 99.9% less storage capacity and cpu's than a completely dense one.

This is exactly the kind of content I needed! Thank you. Your Shapr3D videos have been incredibly helpful and your style of teaching is clear and concise.

Man I would love to move around either of these programs half as quick as you do. Thanks so much for the comparison, you are clearly very experienced and knowledgeable!

Unfortunately for me, just too dear at $20 US a month for my woodworking hobby. Would love to have a version thats say $5-10 a month or buy it just the once at a good price. Doesn’t need to have all bells and whistles. Think they are missing a fair few people signing up because of the pricing. Would also be nice to have certain templates pre loaded to select from so one doesn’t have to create everything from scratch. For woodworking there are plenty of boxes one could adjust and reuse for projects. I really hate sketchups way of entering a size and with no easy way of changing it on the fly compared to shapr.

I found your comparison between the two products very educational and beneficial and helping me decide which one to go with in the near future

Thanks for the walkthrough. I just started using Shapr3D after using Sketchup for over a decade and am trying to get familiar with it. I appreciate the video.

I absolutely love your stuff on Shapr3D. I have used Sketchup but personally did not find it very intuitive. Maybe that is just my age. I really appreciate you doing the video on wood working joints, it was the clincher for me switching to Shapr3D. I have a wood working CNC machine on order to help me accelerate and broaden my wood working offerings. The machine is an Infinity One Elite Journeyman. The Manufacturer has a lot of videos on how to do projects on the equipment and always references the fact that he uses Shapr3D. That is what made me look at your site and then after seeing your extremely helpful demonstrations I was hooked. I have of course subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the great content. Cheers John

Thank you for the detailed comparison. I have been comparing Fusion 360 to SketchUp and this helps me also understand how shaper 3D compares. Free version of fusion 360 seems to offer significantly more features than either of those two. With proper parametric modeling I need to build one miter box and never have to create another one - just instantiate and set new parameters.

What a great comparison! Thanks a lot the effort you were putting into this for us! Would be interesting to see your take on both applications now since a lot of enhancements were made. 😊

Thanks for the videos on Shapr3D. I build furniture also and tried to learn SketchUp, but my limited computer skills made it very confusing and frustrating. I found your channel when researching Fusion 360 and now I'm seriously considering getting an iPad to use Shapr3D. I subscribed in hopes of more CAD content to learn from.
