Struggled with using the desktop version but finding the iPad version surprisingly really easy. Just wished it wasn’t so expensive to buy!

Hi, I’m a DIYer and recently downloaded the 7-day trial of SketchUp for iPad. I have never used a design program before and found it very frustrating trying to design my built-in closet storage even while following a YouTube video. I was close to getting my layout done but ended up going back to paper and pencil. I know the desktop and iPad versions are different so reluctant to purchase your book and invest in the one year subscription of the app. What do you recommend for learning how to use the program?

Hello Matt.
Yesterday I downloaded the Medeek Wall extension as a test. I wanted to give you some questions and suggestions. I tested on iMac 24 2021, Sketchup Pro.
1. Translation into other languages does not work, only English. In the reset, I also changed the language of the computer without success.
2. Most measurements are in inches, and in Europe and Asia it is in mm. It would be good to have a measurement selection button.
3. Glulam has large limits, from 6" to 8". And many dimensions do not correspond to those in mm.
4. Why couldn't a free selection of the layers on the wall be created? For example, the vapor barrier film and the anti-condensation film with technical parameters SD-0.1 to 20.30 do not exist.
5. Many houses are now being built with ventilated fiber cement panels inside and outside. It would be good as a designer to have something like this in the extension selection.
6. Insulation, mineral wool will soon be banned in the EU. there are other types of insulation, such as wood fiber, wool, hemp, etc.
7. The idea of the extension is good, however, it can be developed so that, if I make the frame of a modular house, out of Glulam wood, I have to connect this frame with the Medeek walls.
8. The separate wooden frames do not have the texture of the wood but are beige in color. It would have been ok if it was the color of the wood.

There are several observations, but I wrote briefly.

mouse is still king for inputs, but Tablet has its uses. What about plugins? I have a bunch of paid plugins, Icant use them?

I’ve been using sketch up for iPad for a while now, and the one thing that I find a challenge is to do an array of a component over a long distance. When I select the object with my pencil, using the move plus tool, I would expect that I would be able to drag off the screen so that I could keep my model visible enlarged of scale to be able to place it. What’s your solution for this kind of procedure?
