Great addition of showing video of how you actually use the mouse versus just showing the cool zooms within CAD.

I've had a Spacemouse since I shifted my primary design work into Inventor. I can't imagine working 3d without it.

Used one since the first one was produce and had many since. Can’t live without it working in the cad world.

I’ve been a 3Dconnexion user for about 20 years. I’ve had five of them over the years. The Enterprise is my favorite but the two button single knob format is also good.
Most importantly, I have to say that pulling the knob up or pushing down should make the model space go up and down. Pushing away should make the model space push away. That’s one of the two default choices they give you and it’s so intuitive, because it feels like the knob is actually the model space. As if you’re holding the object with your left hand. The way you move the knob, is the way you move the object.
It would not be good to get used to the other setup that you show at the beginning of the video, then decide later that you want to switch to the more natural and intuitive setup.

I bought the Spacemouse based on this video for Shapr3D, , , it’s been a game changer! I’m also using two Stream Decks. I made icons in Keynote to make selecting tools quick.

❤👏Great instructional video. The Space Mouse is super intuitive. Very short learning curve. In fact I'd recommend it for people learning CAD. Mahalo for sharing! 🙂🙏❤️

Used to say it was pretty useless until I got one at work.... now I'm considering buying one for my hobby. It's just that amazing, but also a bit debilitating, I struggle to navigate models and be efficient with the basic MnK setup now. Worth it 100% if you're a CAD tech'

DAMN that's cool! 😱🔥 I saw this and searched to see what it's for. I have no use for this, but I still kinda want it🤣

I've gotten pretty used to using the Stream deck with Sketchup.
These would mean retraining muscle memory.

I have had the SpaceMouse Wireless for a few years. I have never seen that 3d connexion screen where you can choose what cad program you are using. I have 3Dxware v10.9 on Windows Machine.

Like you could read my mind. I was literally wondering how I would use it with Shapr3D!

With the smallest one I know that some people use a DIY macropad for shortcuts trough QMK

Never heard of this before and I was curious. You're the first video I saw and a helpful one at that. So thank you for that. I was thinking of buying one of the cheaper ones, as I just got into Shaper3D. I couldn't help but notice some little platform thingy behind you mouse. Looks like something you'd rest the heal of your hand on. If you don't mind my asking, what is it and where do I get one? Thanks again.

I’m left handed can I use it in my right and my normal mouse on my left? It looks ambidextrous.

Hey Alex, great explanation of the spacemouse. I've seen people use a loupedeck / streamdeck on there productivity, setups and i've even seen people using the smaller people take the smaller spacemouse and pair it with a small streamdeck. Have you tried to use the loupedeck for CAD? is that even worth considering?

I love those 3D Mice. I had one when learning CAD/CAM like 18 years ago with Mastercam and SURFCAM. I think it wasn't even called a SpaceMouse back then. I don't do it much anymore, but using 3D software without one still feels wrong.

Your justification for having the computer mouse on the right side being because you're right handed seems absolutely bizarre to me. I'm left handed and I use the mouse on the right side too. Aren't 95% of mice ergonomically shaped for the right hand anyway? I don't think I've ever seen anyone use a mouse in their left hand. Just imagining it feels so alien to me!

I used an old style Spacemouse (with the ball. Yeah way back when). Once you get used to these you won't want to model without it if you do any type of 3D modeling for CAD/CAM. Will this work in the non commercial version of Fusion 360? I can't find the answer online. All the reviewers us the commercial version. It would make modeling fun again.
