Suggestion...can you do that release filming it in slow-motion, maybe 120-240 fps? It can be done using your phone, just set the phone up at the side of the line of release, where your hand comes across, so we can see your hand release the ball slowly? That would help tremendously in understanding how your hand is rotating and releasing the ball in the proper fashion.

I think this is yet another reason so many people are going 2-handed/no thumb. It can take, quite literally - years - to get the fit 'right' with the hand and thumb. And it's a dynamic target, which can and will change over time. Why mess around with that when you can bypass it and in most cases have a higher rev rate? Personally, I'd rather spend my time working on my physical fundamentals than trying to tinker with a thumb. Been there, done that.

Cool video talk tech bowling Jr Raymond

I was born in Michigan, but my family moved to California when I was 4 years old. Have you ever considered if giving video bowling instruction is feasible, either by reviewing videos of clients bowling and responding to them, or doing a live video conference call type of lesson? I commented on one of your other videos that I'm having trouble with severe knuckle pain in my middle finger, because of my "Stroker" style release, that is putting great sideways pressure on my middle finger. My temporary fix over the last couple weeks is to tape my middle finger to my index finger, but I'm hit and miss with being able to bowl well with my fingers taped together and I'm hoping for a better answer to my problem, like learning how to switch from the "Stroker" release, to a release that is more under and behind the ball, which hopefully will exert less pressure on the side of my middle finger. What do you think? Am I on the right track for solving my problem? I'm 68 and just started bowling last season, and I was quite pleased with myself, improving from my 155 starting average, to my current 198 average, but learning how to hook the ball with my current technique has started to take its toll, and I need to adjust to a different release, that won't cause me the pain, but still allow me to get the scores I've been enjoying recently. Thanks for your advice and all of these great video tips you provide.

If a bowler has a natural spinner release, is there anything they can do (layout, surface, ball choice) to work with the spinner release?

Yea, my ball hangs up on my thumb every once in awhile. And, not only does that effect the ball it hurts. I'll have to try what you profess here. Thanks

One thing that help me was someone using a nerf ball to show the hand motion. I never tried it myself. But it helped me to visualize the release is fairly quick. And your not doing much with the thumb.

Try a lighter ball with the spinner release and get the ball speed right and you’ll get lots strikes on dire lane conditions such as those found in Asia. 😮

Would you consider making a video on a max hook release for 2 handed players?
