Restaurant Management Tip: How to Keep Your Restaurant Staff on Task
How do you keep your team focused on the customer?
When your staff becomes disengaged, it is critical to refocus them back to the task at hand.
This lack of focus could be due to a lack of communication. When they clock in, remind them of what they are doing that day and have them reiterate it to you. Ask them questions and engage their focus for the tasks ahead.
“Have you done this? How will you handle this? Where are you at with this?” If they have down time, have the staff role play certain situations and review with them later how they handled them. Based on their responses, you can offer praise and feedback.
Without a game plan, the team will not stay focused. You must have a daily plan for each member of the team. Observe them and be ready to refocus their attention as needed. As a leader, you must be proactive to have a productive team and prevent problems later.
