Fox bark or howling ?

I heard what I thought was an animal in distress and found a fox.

judging from multiple nature documentaries ive watched, thats the sound they make when theres danger nearby to alert their kits to hide underground. Thats just what ive seen though. Could always be wrong.

It's called Vixen Scream. Very typical in the Red Fix and the most common sound they make. It's a form of communication between them. This is a call to attract a mate and its used to mark their territory.

Been hearing this outside my house at night every now and then for over a year, had no clue what it was... last night I saw a fox across the street sitting on a bird bath, so I search for fox sounds and sure enough this is exactly what I've been hearing

OMG, I JUST HEARD SOMETHING PASS BY MY HOUSE WHILE I WAS SLEEPING, and I guess it was a fox! I was sleeping and then the noise just woke me up and I was so scared that I couldn't move 🥲

omg, I woke up from a nightmare one night, and I was already scared enough and I hear this constant howling from outside my house and I start shaking really bad, and I go to my window, and I see two shadows on either side of my street. They were two foxes talking to each other😂 but man are the noise they make so scary 😂

We have Gray Foxes in our suburban Austin neighborhood. I've heard thisnoise from them, too, but not very often. I see them almost daily, and hear them make a cry about once a week or less. Strong silent types, I guess.
