Fox Mating Call

Mr Fox in the afternoon, 2 January 2023.

Only the males make this call and only during the mating season. I believe it is also a territorial call.

Mr Fox is around a year and a half old.
One of his distiguishing features is a slight downward kink at the end of his white-tipped tail.

He is the boldest around me of all the foxes I have got to know in this fox family since 2019.

Mr Fox is mate to Miss Fox and father to Fox Cub#7.

Mr Fox is such a perfect fox that some viewers have accused Mr Fox of being CGI!

Mr Fox had mange earlier in 2022 but I was able to treat him with ivermectin.

Fun fact: foxes mate for life and are so emotional and loyal that if their partner dies they won’t get another.

My first thought was, that is NOT the mating call…until I read “Mr Fox”. The female mating call is terrifying. They sound like a woman being murdered. No exaggeration…it’s a truly scary sound. 🦊
