Here me out because this is going to sound backwards and un-romantic. But the fact of the matter is, you probably can find someone else you're compatible with. You probably really can have a happy life with any one of several other people. But marriage is about finding someone you're compatible with, who you can trust and bare your soul to, and then making the choice to commit to THAT person. It's not that they are your soul mate or your destiny. It's not this "if it's meant to be, it'll be" crap. It's, "I choose you and forsake all others". Because there are others. You can probably make the grass as green somewhere else. But at some point, you simply must choose.

Tangential to that, marriage isn't merely about your momentary happiness. It's a much higher calling than that. It's devoting yourself to something bigger than yourself, a family.
