I believe Nf4 check leads to mate bacause Ke5/e4 is met with Qe6 check. if Kd4 Qe3 is checkmate and if Kxf4 g3 followed by h4 will result in a mate. If Kd4 Qc4 check Ke5 Qe6 check and the same position occurs as if Ke5 and Qe6 check was played.
