I got this exact treatment. After a certain age I sort of just started fighting back. Around 12 years old. Me and my father used to get in fights. He'd always win because either my mom, who was SUPER against hitting children, got in the way or I just decided to give up. I eventually stopped after one day I ripped my father's shirt off completely and sat outside in the cold for about a hour and thought abt what I had done. I swore to never lay a hand on my father again. Let alone anyone. It's not pleasant so don't fight back to be real with you. Just deal with the hittings or just be a good kid. I have major regrets for the stuff I did.
