When he said, "You heard me the first time " I knew he was dead.

Me: “You heard me the first time.”
My headstone: “… and that was the last time.”

My parents were pretty southern and this along with saying something before leaving the house was pretty much a requirement. And lord forbid if someone honked the car horn for you and didn't come to the door.

My grandmother made me literally walk back out the door and come back in the house! She said "and act like you got some sense" 🤣🤣

Nurse: _What brings you into the ER today?_

Dad: _I found him laid out in the park. I think someone hit him._

It's not just at home. I was taught that if I entered a room anywhere that it was my responsibility to show myself friendly, respectful, and approachable by addressing those already there. How they choose to respond would inform me as to how I should continue to interact. However, the initial interaction was always my responsibility as a newcomer. To be honest this gave me confidence as a child and later as an adult because I don't wait for others to make me feel a part or like I belong.

In the morning my Nana would say “ I didn’t sleep with you last night”.

That’s right! Great parenting. I always correct my daughter to say hi and greet me with a kiss or a hello…and not to just go to her room. Old school values and kindness. Right on!

My mom makes my son greet her with good afternoon grandma every day after school. It shows respect for people and the home.

Nothing better than a protective, teaching parent. You love your son, and you are full of wisdom which is the best love you could give him!! 💟💟 Will take some years for him to understand how loving you are.
