Hope the movie balances out the musical aspects with the plot and acting. It would be great if the musical numbers were all in their heads, while it frequently cuts back to reality, showing the real mayhem they are causing. All this, as they attempt a prison break. So far, it looks like some ground is being retread, but it also seems that Todd Phillips has not lost his touch. I have not forgotten how incredible the first is. Hope Phillips, Phoenix and Gaga bring it home!

As someone who really likes musicals and when films get a little experimental, I was actually incredibly excited when I heard the idea that this was a musical. It just seemed like a perfectly anarchic twist in the way the Joker would approve of. And the way it's coming across to me-- it seems like there's a musical therapy class in the asylum, and the musical numbers might be more metaphorical and in their heads-- is really, really cool and a good way to handle it.

Lipstick at the end is phenomenal. It could be easily done with special effects (fake lipstick put on post production to fit where he put his face), but I have a feeling they just did this scene 5-6 times, from scratch, and painstakingly measured so it all aligned just right.
Let's also empathize that getting one person to align for a "trick shot" like that is hard enough...but TWO? Just wonderfully done.
