60% of this movie is pointless singing, harley is useless, 30% is Arthur/joker being beat up, bullied, and harassed, 10% is just kissing and sexual tension

What happened? I think the problem is two-fold. The first movie was clearly designed to be a self-contained story. They never planned or wanted it to have a sequel. And the second issue is that the first movie attracted an audience that Todd Phillips loathes with every ounce of his being. He hated that so many young men identified with Joker, so he set up to try and destroy the character and destroy the first movie in every way possible. This is what happens when Dr. Frankenstein takes a second look at his creation and hates it.

The way the first movie was portrayed the sequel had so much potential. It could have been a classic gangster story with hints of more characters of Gotham.

It was a terrible movie. Arthur actually had character progression in the first movie. This movie had him regress and be for the whole movie where he started in the first movie. They just undid his development and completely gutted the character. What a terrible way to end such a promising concept.

Honestly, in the first movie, when I saw how much older Arthur is than Bruce, I decided that he couldn't be THE Joker, but was maybe an inspiration for the Joker we all know and love, then when they announced this one with Harley, I was like, "now they're just fucking with us."

Honestly not even the "Joker" we're used to seeing as the clown prince of crime. It's just a generic arthouse film. He's not even Joker at all. Just a demented insane dude with a demented insane girlfriend with famous names plastered over.
