Finally, a concise, cogent and even review from someone who actually takes a lot of pictures and video rather than just stills of rulers! Thank you!

Can we get another update video?
Are you still using this? Likes and dislikes?
Thanks.

You're dead on with my thoughts with this camera. However, your battery woes most likely have been influenced by the GPS, as my batter life has been tremendous. I've routinely eclipsed my 5D3 and especially my 7D2.

This video was recorded with the A7R2? May I ask even with what do you record your audio? Rode VMic Pro? Do you edit the audio in post production?

On the other hand, I'm getting the 5D Mark IV on Wednesday coming from the Mark II. I have the 24-70 2.8 IS II and 70-250 IS w/ stabilizer 3.5 I believe. I hate that the higher end 2.8 does not have stabilization, I can see blurry images if shooting in wide aperture.

he is right on about the Sony. I just finished renting the 5d mark 4 and the Sony a7rii. the Sony does crash, the battery life is terrible and if you think your camera will not overheat think again, they over heat. I was like alot of people. I was on the fence and I wanted the best. I have canon but I was interested in why people were changing. trust me it's not worth it. the 5D4 is phenomenal and with a few more firmware updates coming it's thr best of the best. the 5d makes you just wanna go out and shoot.

A great review. Finally someone who does not emphasise the video capabilities of the Mark IV to much; it’s a camera for photographers! You really convinced me to switch from my 6D, the Mark IV includes everything I miss.

I'm kinda looking forward to the a99ii but the A-Mount lenses are pretty old now. They need to be updated if they're going to keep up with the camera's AF ability or be used for video.

i have been contemplating getting this camera for a while now, as a youtuber, I really want to upgrade from the 80d to something that is full frame and takes better at pictures too, and I agree, wish it had a flip out screen

Thank you for this honest review. I’m a canon user and while other systems are doing something more, I’m happy with knowing that Canon updated what I needed.

Magic Lantern's Website mentions Nothing about the 5D MK4. Are they developing anything ? It would be great if they were. Better Slow Motion in 1080p would be awesome, along with a better CODEC for 4K. and the old HDR function they had for the MK3.

Regarding your comment at around 5:30, any idea why medium-raw files would have less dynamic range?

When you do studio photo tethering and using the software Capture One, you cannot have an SD or CF card inside the Canon 5D Mk IV. Capture One stores the images in your computer instead of the SD or CF card. This creates a conflict between capture One and the 5D Mk IV on were to store the images. So remove the cards inside the 5D Mk IV.

Well said when you were comparing with Sony and Nikon
I always would opt for a reliable system when picking my photography gear and that's why I went with Canon
Most people don't realize Canon has the best range of lens out there and not to mention they have the best glass too.
Nikon focuses too much on specs but not real performance - they can come up with a 40 megapixel camera but I heard it's not that clean - Canon's 50 megapixel is one of the best.
Sony I've given up on Sony years ago since they don't make what they sell anymore - everything is someone else's technology, for instance they used to be the best in TVs and now they use Samsung panels and put in their own software and firmware. Mirrorless will never cope up with DSLR - where's the art and fun in photography when what you see through a viewfinder is an EVF - just get a point and shoot and use live view. What's their hit rate when shooting High Speed. Their focusing system seemed to work when you're looking through the EVF until you view everything on your computer to find out only a couple could be used. You've also said something that a lot tend to not notice - the Sony menu system is the worst and it crashes a lot - Are you going to wait to restart or just stick with a brand that you know you can rely on.
Anyways great review and comparison - Love my Canon 5d Mark IV and Canon 7d Mark II - Cheers and Happy Shooting

If you have a problem with the 5D battery make sure you have the disabled the WiFi and only turn it on when you wan to transfer images. Otherwise it eats up the battery when it's enabled and is on the whole time.

I've got to ask this question. Are the differences between the images taken with the 5D, 5DM2, 5DM3 and the 5DMiv so great that you would back yourself to tell them apart? Do you take all the photos down off the wall every time a new model hits the market and replace them with photos taken with your ''new'' camera? Do you send an email out to all your previous clients everytime you get a new camera offering to do a reshoot with much better quality images? I'm confused, I truly am. I remember watching the videos on the 5DM3 when it arrived on the scene, it wasn't just a big brother to the 5DM2,  one reviewer said,  it was a new beast altogether! So like a goose I rushed out and bought one and sold my 5DM2 even though I didn't need the money. Guess what, I can't tell the difference between the images taken with both. Am I blind? Probably, but I'd have to see someone tell them apart with unerring accuracy  before I consider buy a seeing eye dog. I fell into the GAS trap like so many do but I wasn't getting the feedback from friends or family every time I invested $1000's more into my kit. It just wasn't there. So now I'm thinking about what truly makes a good/great photo. Is there a photo you can point to that impacted you that wasn't taken with these ''modern'' cameras? For me it would have to be Nick Ut's Pulitzer Prize winning photo of 9 year old Phan Thị Kim Phúc running from a Vietnamese village in 1972 with the clothes burned from her body. I was a 20 year old soldier and was in Vietnam when that occurred, the image has haunted me ever since. That, I now realize, is what photography, real photography is about. Its what's in the photo that matters to most, not how it was taken and with what. Today I watched my last video review, and for this I thank you. Time to go out and take some photos. Like they say, the best camera is the one you have with you.

I know this is an old video, but... You made a comment here about how shooting in medium raw hurts the dynamic range. Is that something you find to be true across Canon cameras? And is that significant?
