Emmy - award winning filmmaker, Brian Kissig reviews the Canon 5D Mark IV after two years of ownership. This camera is one of the last best DSLRs for photography in 2024 and still holds up against a lot of today's modern cameras. For video it is not a good choice compared to many newer cameras.

I got both a 5D Mark iv and a 70-200mm ii for 2k and wow, what a pair! I learned the basics on a mark ii for the first 2 years, bounced around with a few canon mirrorless bodies but decided to come back to the 5D series. It feels right in the hands and gets the job done. The fact you can find EF glass for such good deals now really keeps me feeling good about staying with the mark iv. Awesome video!

I just switched from a Sony a7iii to a used mark 4. I used to have a 6d years ago and really missed the Canon family. The 5d mark 4 is still a great professional camera!

I bought a used 5D4 a few weeks ago as an upgrade to my 6D and love it! I just shoot for a hobby and mostly landscapes so don't need the newer mirrorless autofocus stuff. I actually still love SLRs and have an old EOS 3 so I can share lenses between them!

I am a canon user for commercial work for 10 years.
550d, 80d, 6d and 5d mark iv for 5 years. Still can't move on from the OVF, very useful for professional work. We can compare the 'true colour' from OVF to display screen

I’ve shot professionally with a Canon 5d classic. I use an 85mm and a 50mm lens. People like my headshots. They never ask about the camera. They’re happy with the results. So as long as people get good with what they have, done.

I had a 5D Mark II and a year ago I sold the II for a IV. I am still learning this camera but I am always getting better. I changed to this from a mirrorless Cannon, that I still have.

I'm seriously considering getting a Canon 5D in 2024 (almost 2025). Yes it may be technically obsolete but so is a 1968 Mustang and I want that as well.

I’m currently using a 5d4 and all canon EF-L lenses

The 5D4 is all the camera any average photographer will ever need. Anything else is just a gimmick. I shoot professionally and as a hobbyist. My clients are EXTREMELY happy with my work. Mirrorless, sensor stacking, blah blah blah, is nothing but obsoletism. You can justify the leap from film to digital for obvious reasons. However, not so with mirrorless. You’d really have to pixel peep and, tech that really doesn’t serve a practical purpose. Some people simply just love chasing tech but, really have way too much camera to even handle.

Just grabbed a 5DM4 as my second body today! I love it already, main camera is a Canon R6 MKII but something about this DSLR just feels right.

Today I photographed landscapes in the winter forest with a Canon 5d mark iv - I froze faster than he did :) More precisely, it is not frozen at all, but now it is in the bag - it is slowly heating up :)

How you compare you with nikon D750 for photography only?

I use a 5D Mkii, and I'm waiting for the price of used 5D MkIV's to come down to buy one. I will shoot EF bodies as long as I can. My pro photographer friend still uses his 5D4 as his only camera.

Just picked one up yesterday from BHPhoto with discounts and no tax using the Payboo card - $1689. Brand new with warranty from Canon. This is to replace my mark ii which I love, but only has 4550 shutter count. Should be able to get some of the cost back selling the mark ii with RRS L frame and cannon battery grip. Buying these add ons for the mark Iv from keh in excellent+ shape.

This is what I currently have and I must need to mess with the settings more to get what I want. I've found that the Manual settings are more tricky to navigate compared to my previous camera for some reason. Probably user error. My biggest hang up is the lack of a flip screen. As someone who takes self portraits the majority of the time, a flip screen would be amazing. The canon connect app is a thing, but it's especially spotty for me and is usually slow or refuses to connect at all (why the flip screen would be helpful).

What did you come from before the 5D MKIV Brian? I have a 5D MKIII currently, with 6 EF lenses. The more i read about the RF line of cameras, it seems like there is always some sort of issue with them, either firmware, battery, or something else. I was able to test out my friend's R6 MKII and it crashed on me a few times just trying to take a photo. My question is would you upgrade to the MKIV from the MKIII?

I shoot my photos on 5d mark II and love it. But it is quite old and I’m afraid it can say me “sorry, not today” at any moment. A few troubles that disturb me in mark II is that the only good working focusing point was only in the centre, another points are misses the target. This is not convenient and limits the possibilities, makes it necessary to invent ways to circumvent this problem Is this problem exists in this camera? I have a big collection of light-weight lenses and surely don’t want to jump on the other brand, but previous mark III very disappointed in the rendering of colors.
