I wasn't born is California but worked there as an adult for 35 years. I lost my job and had to live back east for 6 years. The whole time back there all I could think was to come back to Southern California. I did last year. This song was one of the reasons.

The first time I heard this song, I was at my Dad's friend's ranch.. they had an Oldsmobile station wagon that had many windows in it and on the roof. I just remember driving out to some ranch where I rode a horse for the first time. On the way back home we were in my Dad's 65 GTO, and it was the Hollies playing a Long cool woman in a black dress. RIP Dad, I miss you and all the wonderful times and adventures you gave us kids.

Lived in San Diego 1974-76, song brings back a lot of memories, I was 22 years old, when you are young everything seems new and exicting, this song takes me back like being in a time machine, the world has always been messed up but 50 years ago it sure seemed like a better place than what it is now.
