I drove to LA in 1974 seeking my future, so this song hits home. Things worked out well, but things weren't easy at first. Often heard this song on the car radio when driving LA freeways. Today I am living in south Florida and enjoying it. Still, going to LA was worth it.

This song bring me back to 1977, Okinawa, Japan, I was a U.S. Marine stationed there at Camp Hansen. after many deployments and back to camp, I would go into Kin Village and hit the local bars, Karaoke was big there and my first karaoke song I picked to sing was this song. I was from Huntington Beach Ca. I still sing this song at my local karaoke club 40 years later.

I'm an English teacher and my pupil couldn't pronounce the word "southern" . This song popped into my head and i just had to play it to her. Brilliant song, I love it. And I was born in 1972 ...

I was born in 1973, but my first memories of life was in 1976. I only remember bits and pieces of this decade, but what I do remember is that everything had a groovy, laid back feeling to it all. This song is a prime example of that.

I miss the 1970's. I'm 55 yet I still wish it was 1972 or even 1974. These were happy times with my family, & the music was the best.

This popped up in my algorithm while I worked on my laptop seated in the wait area as onboarding passengers queued up to pass thru TSA security in the Fresno California airport a couple weeks ago. There must've been over a hundred ppl started moving to the music, some w/smiles spreading across their face, some w/distant gazes, others w/eyes welling up and...one w/tears streaming down his cheeks. We had ourselves a moment spanning at least five generations. Many stopped to thank me, including a 14 y/o young woman who said it was one of her all time favorites even though she wouldn't be born for another 17 years after it was written.

I definitely associate this song with 1972. I had just settled in Southern California, and all radios were playing it non-stop! Impossible not to feel the nostalgia of these past times....

I love this song, especially its chorus. Across all his work, Albert Hammond is just a brilliant songwriter. One of the benefits of Youtube is that its easier to dig up stuff from before your time (almost before my parents' too!).

I played this the other day and my dad said it brought back happy memories of when he was growing up. He said it was simpler times and happy times with his parents and family.
