Original video edited and AI remastered with HQ stereo sound.
"It Never Rains in Southern California" is a 1972 song jointly written and composed by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood and sung by Hammond, a British-born singer-songwriter.
Hammond collaborated with Don Altfeld to produce the selection when he recorded it.
Instrumental backing was provided by L.A. session musicians from the Wrecking Crew. The song appears on Hammond's debut album of the same name and peaked at number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is Hammond's only top 10 hit to date (although he would have one other top 40 hit in 1974 with "I'm a Train"). He would also produce a hit, "The Free Electric Band" that peaked at #48 on the Billboard charts and #19 in the UK.

For many years I thought Albert Hammond was an American not English. Many of his songs had American themes like this lovely song "It never rains in Southern California"

Raining in West Central Florida. I'm thinking about epic family camping trips to California in the 70's. Station Wagon pulling a Colman camper with us four kids. Anyone who acted up had to sit between Mom and Dad. The term "the California Pinch" was born. Dad would give ya a good pinch on the thigh while driving if you were making faces to the others in back.
This song was very popular and played often on the radio. Especially when it was raining.
Wonderful times, wonderful memories.

I always loved this song! I live in Southern California now, in the Menifee/Sun City area, moved here from Massachusetts in August 2015 after my mother passed away in the house back there on Christmas Day 2014 at 83 years old from Metastatic Colon Cancer.
