This happened to my son and it's not "unexplainable". Newborns often have undiagnosed reflux that presents in the first couple of weeks, the burning usually takes their breath and happens when they've been asleep LAYING FLAT ON THEIR BACKS! this is the problem, parents aren't told to prop a baby up after eating until the milk can digest. Sometimes a baby has milk sensitivity and they can't digest it effectively, also causing reflux and spitting up in their sleep. They also can develop thickened saliva that they can't swallow or spit out so they aren't able to breath in or out. The lack of information given to new parents is sadly lacking and many infant deaths could be prevented!

I woke up in the middle of the night and my daughter wasn’t breathing. She had terror in her eyes. I ran over to her crib and quickly picked her up and she gasped for air. She just started breathing. Her doc couldn’t find anything wrong. All I have to say I believe the grace of God woke me up to get her.

This happened to my son. He was in his bassinet, BLUE/DEEP PURPLE, drenched in sweat, rigid and not breathing. I yanked him up and started rubbing/patting him vigorously, I just remember administering blow after blow to his back. It felt like an eternity passed before he finally sucked in a breath and his color began to return as he cried.

That memory will haunt me for the rest of my life. I truly believe he would've been a SIDS baby if I hadn't found him and stimulated him into breathing again 😢 I'm now fully CPR certified. I will never, ever risk not knowing what to do for my children during crisis again.

My daughters baby kept choking on amniotic fluid in the hospital. The nurses insisted that she be on her back with nothing to prop her up. It didnt make sense. Finally an overnight nurse said in a lowered voice that its RECOMMENDED that they lie on their backs, but we need to do what we need to do, because she did with her babies at home. Everything is not textbook and cookie cutter.

That swaddle appears to be too small and tight, also, there's too many things on that crib that can suffocate the baby...swaddles are great, when they fit the babies and are used properly.

That big sister saved that babies’ life. She knew something wasn’t right. It’s a good thing Mum went in to feed her when she did.

This happened to my daughter the first night she was born. I was sleeping when I got an overwhelming sense of fear and I looked over to the hospital bassinet that was right next to me and she was purple in the face, tears in her eyes . I jumped up so damn fast ( just had a c section that morning and it hurt like HELL ) grabbed her and started administering blows to her back till she could breathe again. I called for the night nurse and she just came in to piss me off!! Told me I was over reacting and it was a common occurrence. Mind you this is my first and only child so it was so freaking I’d still react the same if it was my fifth child because WHAT!!!! Made me think of all the baby’s that pass from SIDS then for her to say that…. 😢

This happened to my son about 3 weeks ago. We called 911, and the 911 operator was instructing on what to do while paramedics was on their way. Baby was fine just before paramedics arrived which made us look stupid when they entered my house😂😂. Myself and family knew what happened and what we went through before they came. I've never been that terrified in my life. Anyway, despite we took him to the hospital, the doctor could not explain what happened. I'm just grateful that he's fine 🙏

I knew a lady who's baby would randomly stop breathing while sleeping. He would immediately begin breathing again upon waking up, but she had a device attached to him when he was sleeping to alert her to when he would stop breathing.

This happened to us. Our daughter quit breathing in my arms. Blue around her mouth and unresponsive I panicked and handed her to my husband. He rose up as we had been sitting on the floor and tossed her up in the air. She gasped for air when he caught her. Few days in the hospital and we monitored her for 6 months. So grateful to God for everything.
She was a preemie born a month early. 6lb.2oz. healthy released with mama. A November baby in Minnesota. They say SIDS is more common in the winter.

Don’t lay the baby down immediately after feeds, or move them quickly especially if you are nursing, some women’s breast milk are thick just like formulas are and takes awhile for the milk to settle in. It’s always smart to prop baby’s head up a little gently after feeding, do not lift them up abruptly either, this causes spits/puke.

It’s scary the child picked up on the infant not being well and the mom didn’t just shows what happens when a parent is tired and needs a little extra help good siblings keeping eye out for the younger ones :) and good parent for double checking :)

This is unsafe sleep situation. Those infant loungers should absolutely never be in a crib.

Oh god, I think this is what happened to my cousin's baby daughter. She went to check on her to change and feed her, but she was blue and already gone. Thank god, they caught it in time. I have yet to have kids but I dread this happening! She was so tiny. Her funeral was short but heart wrenching 😢❤

I remember when I was a mother for the first time. I slept, with one eye open, at all for the first year of my son’s life. I was constantly checking on his breathing.

I say this with the utmost confidence. When we have people out here trying to erase the word “mother” because it offends them, imagine how WE feel.

Mothers are by far the most important people on the planet, and I for one shall never be reduced to a “birthing person”

I didn’t know I was pregnant until I was 20 weeks. I was paranoid for the first 3 months of my daughter’s life thinking something like this would happen. I pray the baby is fine now.
