Love this video. It confirmed my theory.
Recently bought the cheapest beginner set available off of Amazon. The performance of the set is good. Not like I Iwata good. But good enough to do basic stuff and see if I get hooked.
Going to do some rc bodies and sorts. But dropping in here might just get me to pick up on drawing/painting again :)

I bought a similar airbrush from eBay for $13 with free shipping. I don't have much experience as I'm just starting out, but for $13 it blew my mind how well it works

First off, who are the two that gave this a thumbs down??? This is an absolutely informative video for not only showing the capability of both airbrushes, but for multiple, basic spraying techniques that are super useful. There was nothing presented to warrant a down vote. Second, I have one expensive airbrush, one mid-range, and one "cheap". I've found that using and cleaning the "cheap" one allowed me to be less afraid of screwing up parts when learning how to disassemble and clean. Plus, as long as the paint is thinned well, the "cheap" can spray pretty evenly. If spraying was a daily task for me, I'd definitely go for brushes with replaceable parts. But with only spraying once in a while, I find I spend 90% of my time practicing and re-learning and 10% actually putting paint on my project.

I feel like I've been destined to watch this video. I was just looking at your old version because I was starting a hobby with resin kit figure/plastic model. I just ordered my supplies and I was starting out with a $30 ish air brush and was looking for tutorials. Glad to find your channel!

I got a $40 KKmoon branded kit off of ebay, came with 3 different needles, the brush, dual action gravity fed.
came with a quick release and a moisture trap as well.

Performs amazing for throwing down primers, zenithal, base colors, and even varnish.
I have not tried detail work, as im not really not planning on detail with the brush, but it feels great, and performs consistent.

Lost of people seem to knock the cheap brushes, but i feel those are the people who rushed and got a 200$+ iwata and just seem to be snobs when it comes to cheap brushes.

I would recommend TRIPLEX airbrushes. Unbeaten since over 20 years. Basically undestructable.

I have bought this same 0.20 airbrush, from amazon, for little details and miniatures and is amazing for the price.

Funny, about 30 years ago I did a lot of airbrush illustration with a Devilbiss for the details, a Paasche for the backgrounds and a wet sponge with frisk film for stone structures and such. These days I’m more into Zbrush ;-)

Master Airbrush sells the cheap versions and has parts for them. I got one with my compressor and tank. Still prefer my more expensive airbrushes. But I'll use the cheap one sometimes for laying down primer instead of the single action I was using.

I've learnt so much from your channel. It's wild.

As long as the user doesn't expect the quality of the real expensive airbrush, they won't be disappointed! Best wishes and regards sir!

There ya go. For the price and for what most airbrush users use an airbrush for It's more than adequate and a great value for the the price. I would say though the Iwata is 10 times the price it's certainly not 10 times better than the inexpensive airbrush. Great review and video as

Thanks for this AA.Just got the same cheap model for finishing my RC planes. So no major artistry required just an alternative to ugly brush strokes and wasteful expensive aerosol paint cans.

I'm curious, and not sure you'd know the answer to this, but what are the factors that make a $700 airbrush worth the price difference from a $17 airbrush? The "test of time" is hardly an indicator since I could buy dozens of the cheap one for the same price and certainly outlive the expensive brush. Quality of workmanship on the cheaper brushes seems to be very close. There is a modest improvement, but not hundreds of dollars worth. The results seem to be similar and only arbitrary judgement reveals significant differences. The biggest difference I can find (and I'm not a good judge because I lack the skill to squeeze the most out of each product) but the needle and nozzle seem to be superior in the higher price ranges and then it's typically a case of polishing and fitting the two components: something that can be accomplished on the cheap airbrushes by simply polishing the needle and seat. (most people can afford the time more than the money) watching this video I don't think you demonstrated any clear leadership of the expensive airbrush and reading the comments people seem to favor the expensive product more from a sense of peer recognition and intangibles than solid evidence for someone who harbors no such opinions. I certainly feel the draw of the name brand airbrush and the push from experienced people is obvious, but no one shows or states and hard evidence and my results seem identical to those in tutorials and such and certainly exceed my expectations. Before I drop $250 or $350 on a brand name airbrush, I'd like to know what differences I can expect so I can weigh the return on investment. Do you have any videos like that?
