Joker: Folie à Deux[a] is a 2024 American musical psychological thriller film directed by Todd Phillips from a screenplay co-written with Scott Silver. It is the sequel to Joker (2019), loosely based on DC Comics characters, and stars Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as the Joker with Lady Gaga joining the cast as his love interest Harley Quinn. Zazie Beetz also reprises her role from the previous film, while Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener also join the cast. It is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios in association with Joint Effort.

Not a perfect movie narratively but boy is this movie beautifully shot and the music gives you the chills once again. Amazing performance by Joaquin. I feel like he brings even more nuance with this character this time around. It’s weird seeing how much hate it’s getting. Yes it’s not perfect by any means but there is a lot to appreciate about the film. Really enjoyed watching it! Loved your review!

Joker 2 is a great movie. I don't understand the really bad reviews. Yes it was bleak, but beautifully so with a strong message on society. There is so much to admire from the whole cast. And yes it's less plot based and more character driven and i guess people wanted more Joker? (Which was a theme mirrored through out the film too)
Joaquin Phoenix is so compelling to watch. He draws you in and unsettles you. You never know what is coming. With the support of the phenomenaly talented Lady gaga I was totally absorbed through out.

I really liked this film. A lot of people didn't..they have to remember what Todd said this isn't the joker we wanted Arthur isn't a career criminal with a gang behind him. This is the first joker to eventually spawn another (hint hint) people need to watch this film as a film and not go into it looking for easter eggs, or looking for problems with it. You can't watch a film like that. I thought the ending was a shocker and it made sense. I liked it. And I want everyone to see it, then judge it. Don't always go by opinions. Just because John Smith hated it doesn't mean you will. It's defo not like the first but it's good enough 👍🏻🃏 I'll see it again so I can process it.

They should have never branded the first movie “Joker”. It should have just been about a guy named Arthur. And not made the sequel.

I really appreciated their bold decisions in this. I enjoyed this better than the first. I mean they went for it and Joaquin does even more in this. The performance of him is mind blowing !! I loved it, but yeah it will piss a lot of people off.

I haven't watched the movie or looked up spoilers but I've a strong feeling that the ending will be Arthur dies and someone else takes over the Joker role which won't work for me if that is the ending.

my thoughts HEAVY SPOILERS

When youre in love, life is like a song. The singing was a door into the fantasy that he created for himself and others. It shows him in his fantasy, when he sings and dance to himself and in that fantasy world he is the character Joker. He infects like minded people such as harley quinn or his follower in the prison shown by thier singing to him, signaling they are joining him in that fantasy. When his prison follower possibly died because he was showing joker his support by singing, arther fleck felt that the fantasy has gone too far, joker has too much blood on his hands for arther to stomach, so he discards the mask that is the joker and tries to take responsibility in court as Arthur, tries to reconnect with Harley as Arthur, but in thier last scene together she was singing to him as if a siren trying to call the joker back out. But in the end arthur lost her, because all she wanted was joker. However in my opinion the bigger loss was possibly of his friend Mr. Puddles, earlier in the movie, who only wanted arthur, he admitted the joker scared him, but arthur the man beneath was the only person to have ever been kind to him. However at the time in his attempt at trying to keep his followers and lover the joker threw that friendship away. Arthur lost his friend to the joker, arthur never had a partner that loved him but instead loved the joker, arthur was found guilty of his crimes and lost any resemblance of freedom due to the murders he commited as the joker, and lastly in the last 2 minutes of the movie he was stabbed to death by a psycho who carved his own face into a smile. The fantasy that arthur let gone to far, the Joker, has stripped him of everything he had, and was now given flesh to kill him. The last thing he heard while dying was the laugh of the monster he unleashed into the world.

My out of the thearter thoughts was "reminded me of Natural Born Killers" but instead of showing their madness through crazy images, showed madness through imperfect musical moments. 8/10

Personally speaking, every single acting, directorial, and creative choice made in this movie, really worked for me. Really love this movie, but I can also see how it won't work for everyone or many, if not most people.
