Thanks for the video....I'm not sure if this is a client server VPN or a peer to peer vpn. I like to know what limitations might someone might have like using hyper backup, does this use ports, or can use quick connect

Thanks so much for this video. I am trying to backup one NAS to a remote location. I setup the VPN as described in this and another one of your videos on the remote synology, but when I try to connect, all I get is connecting and it never says actually connected. Also tried with L2TP and got same issue. Any clues?

Your content is fantastic, thank you! This video was a little difficult to find, if you changed the name to something like "Connect two Synology NAS via OpenVPN" it might attract more attention. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the video! I have successfully connected to remote nas via OpenVPN using this method. But the OpenVPN server on the local NAS will need to be turned off to allow OpenVPN network interface to be connected. So I can't connect other devices to the local NAS anymore using OpenVPN. any way to get around this?
Thanks

Hello, is it possible to use the synology schedule to attach an OpenVPN connection, when after disconnecting it tries to connect if it fails, it stops trying GREETINGS

Why would you need to create a static route? If the port being used for the VPN is being forwarded and all the traffic is tunneled through the VPN it should work fine.

I dont get it, you just started explaining things then said that we add a line to the openconfig file. Where do we get that file? You didnt explain where to get it? Then you say that we should just export a brand new file but how do we export it? Also, you placed the username "frank". Do we need to create a new user or just enter any name? Do i use my login name for this? should it have an admin privilege or do i use my normal login without admin rights? I really hope you do a step-by-step config on this topic for people who are totally new to this. You are even mentioning raspberry pie? why? the title says connecting 2x synology NAS using openvpn and not raspberry pie. Do we need raspberry pie for this? Why even mention it? Also, do we need to install the VPN from the package center or is that automatically installed upon creation of the openvpn profile at the start of the video? Sorry but this video is very confusing. Also, you didnt even connect a second NAS to the first one. The title is very misleading as this tutorial didnt connect 2 synology nas using openvpn. I really love your other contents but i think this one is very confusing.

Seems simple, but doesn't connect at all ! And furthermore, nothing in the log file !

VPNs don't want to cooperate with my setup !

Thanks for linking me to this video, @WunderTech. It's what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I received the error message, "Failed to establish network connection. I did add the "log-append /var/log/OpenVPN.log" to right after "client-cert-not-required" in the .ovpn file. In Putty, after entering
sudo su
(password)

cd /var/log
vi OpenVPN.log

There's a bunch of - (dashes) each on their own row and then
"OpenVPN.log" [New File]

Not sure what I've done wrong. This message was generated via Putty for the NAS with the VPN Server on it (which is also on my LAN). I tried logging into the other NAS (with the Network Interface VPN connection) which is remote and received the message, "Network error: Connection refused" after entering that NAS's IP Address and port 22 (which I opened via Synology's Firewall and in the Synology Router Configuration).
