I was diagnosed with pelvic congestion syndrome a few years back. Recently went to a new DR and told them my prior diagnosis and that I felt I had POTS. The DR. didn't feel I met the requirements and instead referred me to a mental health professional because they think it's anxiety/depression.

I was diagnosed at Vanderbilt in 2013. It took me several years to get to the point of finally having an official diagnosis. I'm glad that Dr are more open minded to these things. It was a nightmare. You can be told it's just in your head so many times until you believe it. It was awful

My cardiologist said he WAS NOT able to help or even diagnose POTS. Theres only one clinic in my state and its 3 years waiting list for tilt test. I was diagnosed with Hyperadrenergic POTS

I've seen different sources saying you should lay down for "10 minutes" "5-10 minutes" or "5-20 minutes".

I’m trying to decide what to do. I lay down on my side my bp and hr are perfect 120/70 and 65 once I stand (within seconds I go to over 148/110 hr over 120! Once my hr goes over 150 I have to lay down not sit down. If I’m sitting my bp is about 138/90 hr around 90-100! This comes in cycles it seems. Some days are way more pronounced than others. I’m open to suggests. My heart dr said I should ask to have anxiety meds. I tried them and don’t like the way it make me feel. Also they have put me on bp meds but my BP bottoms out like 80/40 when I sleep. I’m open to suggestions to get to the right kind of dr. My entire body feels sore when I first stand up.

Yes, but…

When we try to go to other doctors and explain our medical history, they’re more likely to take tilt table test results more seriously. And we have a lot of experience with our symptoms not being taken seriously, so of course we’re anticipating that.
Also I’ve noticed that when other doctors find out that I see a specialist/cardiologist for my concerns, they also tend to take them more seriously.

So that could be a reason why your patients insist on an official tilt table test with a cardiologist :)
