Alright, alright, first things first...I WILL be buying a ring light soon! I sincerely apologize for the wacky lighting throughout this video. I made the mistake of recording this right as the sun was setting, and my camera was NOT having it! Haha!

Nevertheless, I hope this video was able to shed some light on the differences between a few of the pathways you can take if you want to pursue therapy as a career. You absolutely do not need to spend a crazy amount of time, money, and energy working towards a PhD or PsyD unless you have specific career goals that those degrees will get you access to.

If at the end of the day you just wanna help people by talking to them about what they're dealing with, we need you! And you can provide those services in any number of capacities.

Thank you for sharing the information. FYI, LPCs must complete a masters and complete both a 300 hours clinical while they are in the program and 3000 post grad work as an LPC associate. SW have it so much easier with 900 hours of volunteer work that must be completed over the 2 years while they are in school. To become LCSW its a mandatory 2 yr internship under an LCSW and take the test. LPC and MFT requirements are pretty much the same. The only thing is the TYPE of contact that they must complete in internships but the hours are still the same (3000). I hope this helps. Take care and be in good health.

I’ve had a change in career paths and want to become a LPC … I’m almost finished with my Bachelors in Biology… I’m afraid I will have to start all over again to apply to a masters program. My question is can I apply for a LPC masters program with a bachelor in biology?

His, a question. Is it possible to become a therapist with only a clinical psychology masters? or a Phd or Psyd is necessary for practice.

My job is saying they will pay for my masters. The school they cover only has general psychology (MA). So no specially psychology degree like ( forensic, sports, family) etc .

Is getting a general masters in psychology a waste of time? Would I have to find another program just to specialize ?

- I’m trying to go within sports psychology
