You have 1 dry van running. You need to be doing both admin AND dispatch. There is no way 1 truck can support 3 people. I have 3 conestogas and I do all the admin and dispatch but I’m trying to build.

It would be interesting to get your opinions on a local trucking operation, where the trucks are payed by the hour.

Thank you for honestly showing how bad the trucking business is for fleet owners now in 2022. I see a fellow entrepreneur, business oriented individual trying to honestly making it happen and managing his business the best possible, big congrats to you Zach, it ain't easy brother, but also isn't impossible, remember to ALWAYS REFOCUS and ADJUST when crises arise. Here's the thing, important part of what's going on and it doesn't have to be a genius the person to realize the fuel prices are almost unsustainable for fleet owners to run a trucking business, that's the biggest hit along to the rest of monthly bills of all sort precisely making everybody to run aground their businesses, it's taking away fleet owners profits. Mega carriers are the only ones who will be able to survive this cause they have Dedicated routes, direct to shipper loadboards in partnership with other mega carriers, in other words steady freight and client partners. Their volume might slow down just a bit, but they will always have hundreds of trucks to stay in business with less capacity covering their shippers loads. For the ones wishing to succeed going through all these challenges like a minefield it's really definitely CRAZY now in the trucking industry. Everyone is in SURVIVAL MODE expecting diesel prices to go down and loads to be plentiful. If I were you I will just sign my truck and driver into a carrier where you will get some perks helping you to reduce expenses and take your business undertaking off the ground. STAY AWAY FROM THE SPOT MARKET!

Continue your great work 👍, refinance your truck for a lower monthly payment, shop around for cheaper insurance and if you are in this for the long run buy a trailer. That money for rental will go your profits when rates get better you just have stand strong in tuff times, trucking is a great business everything is trucking and buy another then another and trust me when you reach 3 trucks fully paid off or two paid off even one you will be loving trucking and you know all you want is cash flow to take the money from the big banks.

I love your video but it made me sad when you tan the numbers, you made me doubt a lot to start the truck business but I really appreciate it your honesty

I’m almost certain you’re overpaying for insurance; need to shop around every 3 months; what is weekly trailer cost?

Can you break down the fuel expense for me please something doesn’t add up. What is the MPG on that one truck?

You need to make sure your driver doesn’t betray you on the maintenance of the truck, the bad driver could connect with a machine to fake a bill and they get 50% on that bill, machine will get 50%, you better know what kind repair and if they need replace, ask the driver to bring the old part to you, or you must know the machine before you repair, lol

Just subscribed! So whether it’s box truck or semi, Where do your employees go to drive the trucks? Do you rent a fenced in lot and pay for that? Do they take it home? Do you keep it at your property at some point?

Would it be a lot more profitable if you dispatched your own driver, along with having a credit line to where you don’t need a factoring company.(box truck) and I know this is more of a passive income for you and you want to be hands off as much as possible but let’s say a new carrier that is more focused on his box truck company and someone who’s got time to dispatch and focus on maximizing as much profit as possible without having to drive his own truck. You also have more fees such as trailer cost.. I feel that starting my box truck company under my authority would be real profitable for me and my driver…

What did you do with your box truck ? I think that if you run that truck yourself, and focus on loads within the most profitable states you will be more profitable. Because you wouldn’t have to worry about going back to PA. So you will save on paying a driver less dead head. I’m pretty sure you can dispatch yourself by now. You know which states have the best loads. And you know how to negotiate with brokers already.

Hey brother who do you use for insurance? My insurance per month is almost

Don’t make your driver pay for showers he will start looking for another job! You have to get lower insurance rates. If you use a dispatcher they have to get you a better rate to make there service valuable. I don’t factor and I don’t use a dispatcher. There’s your five hundred dollars. In the beginning you have to do these things yourself I mean why put in all that work to squander it. You might just need to make a choice between trucking and accounting. Why not just be an accountant for trucking companies. Just my two cents I still love the content .

You know sometimes you should wonder if the industry is designed to see people fail. I’m pretty sure things shouldn’t be designed to where you can’t profit. You want my prediction to you and anyone else in the business. Personally start saving to go electric and than watch the way they design the market. I’m sure things don’t have to be the way it is. Maybe they want to drive away independence and make everyone a company driver. I’m just beginning though.

I’m sorry but you need a new dispatcher, the load boards are bad now but you can find decent loads if you negotiate and look hard enough. But that dispatcher wasting both you and your drivers time, energy and money. My driver got $900 for 75 miles, just shows that there’s good ones still out there and you got paid $900 for hundreds of miles that’s a no. Get a new dispatcher rhat has connections and can build relationships for you. Nothing against you, change that dispatcher bro.
Best of luck 🎉
