It has been one year since Microsoft finally acquired Activision Blizzard for $68.7bn, making history as the biggest company buyout in the video games industry to date.

The deal was first announced back in 2022, but it was not a simple process. From the announcement, the acquisition was subject to intense scrutiny, which saw legal proceedings, investigations and revelations all come to the fore over an almost two year period.

Finally, on 13th October 2023, the deal was signed off. "As one team, we'll learn, innovate, and continue to deliver on our promise to bring the joy and community of gaming to more people," Xbox boss Phil Spencer said at the time.

Much has changed in the 12 months since.

For your sake I hope XBox goes out of business so that Sony can sell you a $1200 system. Then Sony will go the Apple route and sell just the system; no disc drive, no HDMI cord, no controller and no power cord. Microsoft, a trillion-dollar company, operates in the gaming industry, which is worth a billion dollars. The Activision purchase by Microsoft slightly less than Sony’s yearly revenue as a company. This includes TV’s to PlayStation’s so not the PlayStation brand alone. With 34 million subscribers and Call of Duty on the way for Xbox Live, I predict an increase in subscribers, especially considering the game’s popularity among casual gamers. The exclusive gaming model is declining due to the high cost of games, which is why Sony is porting games to PC and making less games . Your statement doesn’t make sense, and I’m not a fanboy. I own both a Series X and a PlayStation, as well as a PC. However, let’s maintain a reasonable perspective.

There has never been a case where a monopoly was good for customers. The only ppl to win with xbox gone are sony executives.
