Well it looks like Microsoft has a bigger opponent than Sony to worry about with the Activision deal.

Google is upset they utterly failed with Stadia (100% their fault) and they do not want MS to gain any traction in the mobile space since this deal is also aimed directly at Apple and Google for having a duopoly in the mobile gaming space / app store. MS acquiring ABK would bring another player into the fold and instantly make MS one of the largest players in mobile industry.

GOOGLE and Apple DO NOT WANT COMPETITION in this space. We learned this during Apple's legal battle with Epic. It's interesting how the CMA would block this deal because government agencies have discussed making the mobile app store more competitive for years!

Stadia being dead Is on nobody but Google themselves they invested very little in advertising and properties and studios support.

Im sure that lack of promised features, games, paying monthly while still paying for games and poor marketing had nothing to do with stadia failing.

Why does Google have anything to say in this matter!? They gave up on Stadia!

I figured Google had something to do with this but it's a shame that they were too early to the game with cloud gaming

This is the real life version of SSF2 Turbo. We thought Microsoft's final opponent was Sony, but then Google suddenly swoops in and does a Raging Demon on Sony and is revealed as Microsoft's actual final challenger.

I think everyone but consumers believe in cloud gaming. They keep saying how great it’s gonna be but nobody is really buying that.

They really blocked a multi-billion dollar deal in the UK (which is going to result in the world blocking it) over Cloud Gaming, an industry so small over there that xCloud's server capacity in the UK is less than a few thousand people. Absolutely wild. Anti-trust laws are supposed to promote competition for the good of the consumer and this does the exact opposite with Sony getting to hold almost complete control over the high end console market and continuing to do nothing this generation because there's no reason for them to actually try when there's no real competition. Cloud Gaming makes up less than 2% of the market. Oh well, guess it's comforting to know that politicians are disgustingly corrupt / incompetent buffoons everywhere and not just here.

I feel like if Google bought Acti/Blizz, they would’ve attempted to make their games Stadia exclusive.

Weird Google quit the cloud market they have no direct competition on that front anymore.

Google salty that Xbox did a better job with the cloud gaming thing. RIP Stadia

Alphabet has ~$25bn in cash to throw at this case.
Microsoft has ~$26bn in cash to throw at this case.
These are juggernauts battling it out. It's important to remember, *Microsoft REFUSES to use any of that cash to ADD to the gaming world.* They can still invest in cloud without ABK. They just refuse to do so.

This changes my mind about the acquisition. I've thought this whole time that this deal would go thru. With Google in the mix now who is just as big if not bigger I don't see this happening.

Google is opposing since this deal is about mobile and Microsoft building a competitive store to Google Play and the App Store. Not surprising, and shouldn’t be taken very seriously by a proper regulator.

If Google didn't suck at cloud, this would never be an issue. What a world we live in when a company with a monopoly, tries to stop a competitor from getting a jump into potentially having a monopoly.

Google has no say in gaming! They killed Stadia themselves!

We already knew that google was opposing the deal.

It's weird they even ask direct competitors what they think. Of course they wouldn't want Xbox to get better and will say anything to stop it.

Google should burn for this. They won't even keep their cloud gaming going because its "hard". Google and Amazon should just keep in there lane and let the rest of the world keep turning. Microsoft isnt the gaming god but, Sony and the other companies that actually have cloud gaming are the only ones that should be allowed in this case. Cloud gaming is still years away from being a viable option. I like the xcloud gaming platform but it still needs to be rolled out to more TVs .

The blocking for 10 years seemed like it was personal
