I found my old iPod video. I replaced the hard drive with an SD card and the battery didn't last long so replaced that also. Now i have a great offline play back device. Funny though that my owned music collection stops around 2016. Time to start buying again.

I switched to using Sony's Minidisc format. You can record Apple Lossless using an Optical Cable to create your own minidiscs.

Proudly own an Ipod Classic. Had one for many years before it crashed on me, then got an used one from Ebay over two years ago. I like it for the reasons you mentioned, plus it's cool to download what you want to download and enjoy the music without all the bells and whistles the newer stuff has today. Love to hear where you got yours in case my current one crashes.

to me, the switch from using a streaming service like spotify to ipod was life changing; I find myself listening to full albums, get better discoveries (I'm sick of spotify's repetitive algorithm), more intimate experience with the music and artist, and I have a better knowledge of the songs I listen to and like. let alone the portabilty and no distraction benefits. Also my ipod's next track button is broken and I never fixed it I consider this a mod which has forced me to listen every track and song quickly. that also has been an eye opening experience as well. At this point I suggest you should try IEMs to match with your ipod and kick off your sound quality experience to the next level.

Just to say many people and I want to have distractions or to not pay monthly fees if you plug an iPhone into a computer iTunes you can put the music onto the phone that way and access it in the Apple Music app without a subscription and set a focus mode in settingsfor no distractions. Personally I use an iPod but this is an amazing choice for so many people. Is worth knowing that when you own all your own music you don’t own it that definitely physical media does the grade and most new CDs will only last about 10 years before they start breaking down as they are low quality so to really own all physical media, you need multiple backups and a complex system to maintain it.

1. how do you get your music. You have to pay for cd or an equivalent to be able to "own the file"
2. That ipod is moded like crazy. how did it cost ?
3. in which situation will you ever go out with only an ipod ?

I get that there are people out there that want to have a iPod for there music.(nostalgia I guess) What I don't get is why. There are so many players out there today that do all this and a little more and have better sound qualities than a moded iPod. You said you spent over 500.00 for it and yet you can get many other players for that price or less. Look at Hiby, Fiio, Cayin, Shanling, and many others that all ready have all these features that were added to this device. Yes, there still is a market for MP3 players (DAP's, digital audio players) today.

There are record players that can load the album onto the computer. That way you can then load the record onto the iPod. If you can find one that’s a 3-speed, even better.

i still use my old iPOD and love it. I was so devastated when they discontinued them. I have 3 of them. I import from multiple sources to iTunes and then download into my iPod.

I also hate that i have experienced a few different songs get pulled from Spotify and when they return, they are completely different, the song wholly changed and is now in my liked songs or playlists when the song is not even remotely what it was before.
