I’m definitely leery of the M2 Air after seeing what Apple did with the 13” Pro. The more I see, the more the M1 Pro 14” looks like the way to go.

I share your concerns regarding the possibility that the M2 MacBook Air will overheat. It has no fan, its width is much less than that of the MacBook Pro M2 which reduces the area to dissipate heat, and we have seen a poor track record regarding this issue in prior editions of the MacBook Air. I am not optimistic. The MacBook Air M1 is looking better and better.

WOW JUST WOW! I cannot believe that there are so many negatives towards the MBP M2 compared to the MBP M1 & M1 Pro chip. Once again, I am still leaning towards making a MBP M1 Pro chip purchase instead of getting a M2 MBA. With these results from the M2 MBP WITH FANS… IMAGINE IT HAVING NO FANS!!! The MBA might as well be thrown in the trash.

I think it's still a great laptop for many people however depending on how the air performs that would be the better option. M2 is only a marginal improvement in some areas and a leap in others. They need to update the software or make changes in the future to avoid some these throttling issues

The main issue, for me, with the M2 is, that it is not the "promised" M2. It's just an M1 overclocked. The next M generation might "fit" well in an old MacBook Pro 13" enclosure if it is a 3nm. Let's see how the M2 will perform in the new 14" and 16" enclosure...

Isn't it funny that Steve Jobs once said "We don't ship junk, we sell products we are proud to recommend to our family and friends". Tim Cooks says "We could care less about that, let's charge more and make the ssd slower just so we can save money and our customers pay us a premium for less". Gotta love Tim "bean counter" Cook! Damn I miss Steve even if it's just for that principal alone!

I wonder if there are any additional storage configurations that suffer from Apple using only one NAND chip. That issue coupled with the thermal throttling makes me not particularly optimistic about the M2 Air’s performance.
