Ukrainian refugees confront Russian tourists in Turkey | DW News

The war in Ukraine has forced nearby Turkey to play a delicate balancing act. That means supporting Kyiv with drones, but at the same time refraining from sanctions against Russia. The conflict has also raised tensions in Istanbul, a welcoming oasis for both Ukrainian refugees AND Russian tourists.

Turkey has separated the hotels of the Russians and Ukrainians.
The main issue here is the constant confrontation between Russians and Ukrainians, who have been living in the same towns in Turkey for many years.
For example, if you go to Alanya, you will think that you are in a small Soviet Union.
They bought houses close to each other because they spoke the same language.
There are too many Russians and Ukrainians living in Turkey and it is impossible not to see each other.
