I think they just like changing the rules to give them something to do

I booked a ticket last week for a 57-day stay, my flight leaves the US May 13th, and I'm arriving on the 15th. So, 😢 I'm guessing that this means I'm screwed out of the 60-day exemption my trip was based on if they do in fact revert back to the 30-day exemption. Or would I still be seen as the 60-day bcos I booked before the roll out of this nonsense?

The 1 day border hop ended last July 2024. I tried to go to Laos thinking in and out but was informed I needed to stay 2 nights outside of Thailand. I was informed that this change took place July 15 2024 so I made a video about it because I had done research before heading to Laos and found nothing but people going in and turning right around and coming back. Thanks for this info.

The visa excemption is not reciprocal in most cases. Thai citizens cannot enter most of these countries without a visa.

Cambodia is looking good. Their visa is beyond easy to get. Get an Evisa then just before your 30 days are up you just go to a travel agent and pay about $290 and they will get your retirement visa processed. Cambodia uses USD currency and drive on the right side of the road. 🤣🤣🤣. Very easy to open a bank account and you don't need to put a ton of money 💰💰💰 in the bank for your retirement visa. There is no 90 day reporting 👍👍👍. Thailand should take immigration lessons from their neighbor Cambodia. 😊

I only visit between 7-10 days at a time, so nothing changed.

All the immigration agents have been waiting for this.

So, a sixty day stay, max?

Hopefully there's still a 90 day visa or that's the end of a decade and a half of winter tourism for me there.

Why not just do 60 days no extension, assuming 😮they are still going to offer 30 days with 30 ext. This would also take the load off immigration doing extension x2

Can I get a retirement visa before I leave USA and if so would that make it easier to open a bank account if I already had the retirement visa upon entering????

Of course I just booked a 57 day round trip ticket. Guess I’ll have to book a throw away Cambodia ticket in case they ask for outgoing travel and get the extension in country.

Why don’t they simply this and just allow you to stay for 180 days on arrival like Mexico!

The gov. got too used to that 1, 900 per extension.

Another reason for me to hate the Chinese. I had planned on spending up to 4 months next winter at my house in Chiang Mai This change will considerably mess up my plans. At least, I haven’t bought the airline ticket yet. I’ve still got !8 months before my sim graduates from high school and I can move to Thailand and get a marriage visa. I guess that I’ll be looking for an education visa to bridge the gap. Complicating matters is having stage 3 melanoma and getting immunotherapy treatment in the U.S. over the last 2 years. If the treatment doesn’t get rid of the cancer, I may be moving to Thailand for my last few months. Given the choice I’d rather de in Thailand than the U.S., given the political climate here.
