I've watched a couple videos reviewing ZV-1F, people were talking for minutes explaning things but you convinced me in the very first 42 seconds of your video. Brilliant approach.

The lack of processing is a plus to me. I hate how iPhones (and smartphones in general) try to apply HDR to everything removing every last bit of contrast and making images look flat.

Thanks for showing the camera up close. I'd rather invest in cameras than phones, and this looks fine for the basics. I also really like cute compact electronics, but will wait to see if Canon has a new G7X on the horizon just to compare apples and oranges.

Thank you for the review. My first thoughts are like:
1. This camera has pretty good audio out of the box. No smartphone can give the same quality. So, you also save on buying a decent mic.
2. Slog/hlg support — not sure how important it is to their target audience. Good to have.
3. This camera would make impressive sales if it worked on Android OS. Point-shoot-edit-and-post flow fans would love such a hybrid camera.
4. Would I buy it? No, I would probably spend that money on smth like Insta360 X3. Stabilization and features are impressive there. But I already have an A6600 and a bunch of lenses. So this camera is not for me.
Saving money for FX30 )))

I think this is a good fit for people that prefer cheap mid tier phones but still want a decent portable cam.

$500 for that level of quality? Can't see many people biting.

Just ordered this camera as an upgrade from the iPhone 13 for my Vlogging needs. Edit your footage and audio in post and you have an awesome little machine. I use a wireless mic and edit in Adobe Premiere Pro

Great video, great review, and many thanks for pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of this Sony ZV-1F, compared to an iPhone (which is what most of us use anyways).

understanding a product in its right context is so important and you did that! amazing! thanks!

The best thing about this camera is that an RX100 series camera has a filter thread. About time! The worst thing is the AF. I suppose Panasonic can now say that their AF is as good as Sony.

At $500.. I'm not sure. But buying this used in a couple years could be such a good deal. I like the fixed lens, quick and compact. But honestly though - if your okay with missing the bigger mic and flip around screen - the gx8 or gx85 has a much bigger sensor, and has IBIS

I’m waiting for a ZV-1 Mark 2. I want my 10-bit and 4K/60 on a compact camera. Heck even the GoPros now have 10-bit

Lots of narrow-minded comments about this camera. I think you hit the nail on the head . It's a vlogging camera, and step up from a mobile phone. Should be great for talking head videos. This camera is replacing my Osmo Mobile for headshot vlogging. The lack of an hdmi output on my osmo mobile is a serious bummer. Also the closed DJI ecosystem gets old very quickly.
Great review. Thanks for sharing.

Almost perfect! Stabilisation sucks! I would have loved to see a RAW mode for photos as well. Everything else is good! ✌😉

Having grew up in Round Rock, I feel like the humidity makes it feel a lot hotter than 110 degrees to be honest. Oh yeah, being a prime lens makes this a lot less flexible than the ZV-1, where you can have zoomed in view of other things for B-rolls. Just get a little selfie stick that doubles as a mini tripod and you can have a wider POV on that 24mm equiv lens when doing Vlogs.

You guys really give too much credit to the iphone's video quality, which is generally overexposed, yellowish, flat, and only looks "good" when there is lots of light. Also the iphone audio is horrible - wind noise / overmodulated. The sony image and sound are pretty good for a very small, simple, and relatively low price offering. Some people don't want a ZV-ev10 with a sigma 16mm on a zihyun gimble with a rode mic. Also you don't have to worry about draining your phone battery while shooting your vlog (and you can answer your phone without disrupting the entire filming process).

You should show how that camera record at 60 fps

The rear camera phone shot destroyed it… might be a little late for this tech considering how good phones are now and how it’s another thing you need to have with you!

I like how you started with a twilight shot, i thought the ZV1f was garbage until i realised what was going on
