One other thing to mention is it connects to the first person in the car. So if 2 or 3 people have it and the passenger enters the vehicle first, it will go through their phone. So if they are using their phone, it will say you using phone and ding you for “phone distraction”.

My Drive Safe and Save average was 99% with very few miles driven. I pay attention to my habits of driving. When I first enrolled, I saved quite a bit but my last renewal, my discount was only $4.91 for a 6 month premium.
This is not 5% let alone any sort of discount for my 99% average.
This is only about 88-89 cents a month discount.

I called in and they said the program is going through a revamping of what is being monitored and people should see a slight increase the next renewal period.
To me, it’s deceiving and not worth the tracking and monitoring and I had them cancel it today.
My driving record is also flawless and I drive a new car. At 99% driving safe according to the app, this discount and program isn’t cut out to what they’re trying to promote.

Just my two cent opinion.

They keep dinging me on my breaking and it makes absolutely no freaking sense! I don’t do any hard breaking but yet my score is 62 and everything else is 100. It’s really frustrating me

I switched from Allstate Milewise to State Farm drive safe and save. I did this because every 6 months my Allstate insurance would go up $30. With drive safe and save its tuff, I used to drive with the flow of traffic now I drive the speed limit or the allowable overage, so if the speed limit is 45, I drive 50. No one drives the speed limit unless they are really old, everyone is speeding, if the speed limit is 45, they are going 60 or more. I now have people tailgating me, getting upset at me and flipping me off, they come right up to my rear bumper then jump in the left lane, fly around me, look at me then jump in front of me and fly. What I do now is set my speed control everywhere I go so that I do not accidently go over the speed limit too much. With Allstate they would only ding you if you went over 80 miles per hour. I'm a good driver, it's the people around me who affect my drive safe and save score by braking hard in front of me, do something to cause me to accelerate harder than normal or a light turning red just before you are about to get to the light, you have a split second to think, can I make it or put on the brakes a little harder than normal before you run the light.

Why are their so many bots in this comment section? It unfortunately takes away your credibility

I have it. Have had it for a few months. Definitely don't like the big brotherish aspect of it. My score is in the 70s, sometimes even 80s, so not worried about the discount portion of it. But if I'm in a car accident, can't help but feel State Farm will look over those few seconds with a fine tooth comb to look for something to their advantage. I mean, this is the same company that recently got out of CA.

I mean nothing stopping someone from going on formal safe drives around town, then removing the device when you normally drive around. giving you a good record and fewer miles.

Thanks for the overview. I'm already a State Farm customer and don't see a downside to signing up for it. I do have some questions about it though. Is use of an iPhone via CarPlay or Siri counted as distracted driving? Also, when my wife and I go on trips, I'm usually driving her car. If I get in the car first, will it associate with my phone rather than hers so she can use hers as a passenger and do texting, email, looking for places to eat, and general navigating (even if she hooks up to use CarPlay from her phone)?

Obrigado pelo review e por nos manter atualizados com informações, apesar de ter um pouco de receio eu acredito que ainda vale a pena para quem quiser arriscar.

Retired, so driving less miles overall. Not sure i like the idea of possible rate increase due to driving over posted speed limit, but driving safely with the flow of traffic. How would one know if increase was due to inflation, or driving faster?

I use CarPlay to return texts would the app detect that as using my phone?

I was a CDL Class A driver for over 40 years. I routinely score in the 90- 95% safe driving rate with State Farm Safe driving app. I have not had a claim of any type since 1995, hail storm. Yet my rates just went up $600 for the year. I am a single driver with no dependents. I think it is a SCAM, it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to get 30% discount. My 2008 F450, which mostly sits in my driveway got a whopping $4. discount for 6 month. I drive well under the yearly average with 2 cars combined less than 12k a year. It's a joke. I only use State Farm because many companies won't insure F450-550 trucks as RV/Personal use.

The comment about bot reviews seems true. Many of the glowing reviews below could have been about any video. Info shared could have been boiled down to a few minutes. Instead 10 minutes

The State Farm app monitors Acceleration, Braking, Cornering, Speeding, and Phone Distraction.
However, their website states that "not everything the app shows you impacts your discount." I watched this video in an attempt to learn which of these activities impacts the discount, but it wasn't addressed. Though other than that the video was very informative.

I'm finding that to get a perfect score on a trip I have to drive like the slow drivers that frustrate us on the road. It's annoying to get marked down when you have to break quickly due to another driver's action. And you have to go through yellow lights else you'll get marked down for stopping too quickly.

All that said, as long as I stay with State Farm I might as well get the 5% given whether I drive well or not!

Lastly, that's the worst video production ever. The incessant noise in the background was too loud and totally unnecessary. Also unnecessary was the incessantly changing image on the screen, and the images often had little to do with the subject matter. Wiping the top of your car battery clean? Really?

I just used it and after 6 months, it saved me 14.7 % on my insurance bill for my 3 cars, so it is worth it. That is driving as normal. $300 saved per 6 months.
