Just remember DEVGRU/Seal Team Six has members of their Recce Teams that abandoned Chapman in a firefight and actually murdered a Green Beret that they were operating with. DEVGRU/Seal Team Six also attempted to cover up the fact that a member of their team killed a British Hostage and they also tried to cover up what happened to Chapman in Afghanistan.

Rarely hear of Delta in the news. Good bad or indifferent. Tier 1 elements are all different animals though, most don’t blab to the media anyways

We did have the Delta guy that killed his green beret friend. Then was found in the woods dead along with another guy dead. Which i ve never heard anymore about that story. I am Army and i say Delta is the best. But that is a interesting story, that i would like to hear what came out of any investigation.

Culture of the unit and the selection process itself.

Historically Delta guys were all “clerks” and seals were screaming to the world. They were seals.

At one point, the seals were at a serious risk of being disbanded altogether.

Here is the difference. When you hear on the news about a delta mission that is successful the news outlet will just say US special forces conducted such and such. If it was seals that had a successful mission, news outlet will say US Navy SEALS conducted such and such mission.

It’s all down to the selection process. SOF-D has a formal one, DEVGRU has an informal one, whereas the bog standard SEAL teams will take anyone off civy street who can mutton through the physical course.

As a Marine I find it pathetic that all you guys as a special force talk dirt about Seals all the time. Rather your a PJ, Recon, marsoc Raider, Green Beret, Delta Force operator, or Ranger. Your all on the Same dag gone team. Seals are some of the toughest guys on the planed and good at what they do along with every other special teams like the ones I put above.
